Apparently Buick 8 track brackets are like hens teeth!
Ive been advertising in several places for a few weeks now with no results.

So last night I welded up my own. Just need to drill the holes and mount it. Then I start wiring...

It looks like you even have room to put a memory stick with music in the USB port at the front of the radio and still close the lid :TU:
Only thing that's missing is a 3.5 inch jack socket in the bottom of the lid so you can connect your iPod/MP3 player (or mobile phone when this radio doesn't have Bluetooth) to the radio:

Or you could make a small opening in the lid, next to the hinge for the iPod/MP3 player wire ?

    Erik,

If he has an iphone/ipod, he can just use the usb port and plug in the ipod usb charger like I do.

Yes I do have an iPhone, iPod, and memory stick.
    All should work.

And good eye Erik.. I do plan to make a small cut out in the bottom of the front cover so a usb wire can hang out the bottom

Yes, that's why I also suggested to cut a small opening next to the hinge, so Curtis can use an USB to iPod/iPhone wire and still close the lid. :TU:

    Its mounted!

(though its an empty shell at the moment. I'll slide the head unit in when I wire everything)
(I also noticed all the spots on my dash.. it doesn't look like that to the naked eye? I need to clean it.)

Its in boys! Finished up mounting and wiring the rear speakers this morning.
Cleaned up the wiring harness for the radio and installed it.
    Sounds great!
Glad I got the kick panels for speakers. They're autosound panels and fit perfectly! Everything lined up!

    I can one up that....
This head unit has an iPod/USB port
It will play music from a memory stick
Or from my phone and I control it with the remote of the head unit :)

Your "8-track" looks really good. Much better than the old glove box trick.

You may find when you install it in the car the lid may not want to stay closed. I did very much the same on mine. To keep my lid closed I used a small short bungee cord and hooked to the back of the case and to the lid. It will stay open when drop the face all the way down and it will stay closed nice tight. Nice job.
    Thanks Rick

    Hey Rick!

It hasn't fallen open yet but did seem loose once installed. I used plyers and bent the top lip in the body up just a little bit. Can't even notice it. And it's much tighter when closed.

I've been trying to think of a mechanical latch or a magnet... I have a couple ideas. I'll post back if I have to do one.

I did the plier and lip thing too. Thought latches and magnets, came up with the strap thingy. Like to see what you come up with.
    Thanks Rick

    Curtis,
what exactly did you do to keep the 'programm' button, tape insert and wheels of the potmeters in the front section? In the middle of gutting here.

JB Weld. I roughed up the edges around all the holes and glues the buttons on from the back. The perimeters are removed... I cut the dials approx in half and held them in place until the JB Weld cured enough to hold them. Then I coated the back of that area with a thick cost if JB. The 8 track flap.. Same thing...it's actually still functional. I'll get a picture today.
