This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Is there a way to do this?

Can anyone tell me how I can categorize some of the posts on this board?

For instance, I just had someone answer a question for me that I want to refer to later, maybe two months from now. When I need to go back to a previous post, I do a search and read through post after post to find the info I wanted to keep as reference. Is there some way to save a thread, or mark it, so I can return to it at a later date? What I'm doing now consumes a lot of time.

If there's no way to do this, I'll probably just start printing the info that I want to keep. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Paul,

There are a couple of creative ways to keep track of them, none of which are really the way you want to do it, which I don't think is possible.

One way is to "subscribe to the thread". This will keep in a "subscribed threads" section in the control panel which will allow you to find it quickly. The downside to this (maybe a downside, maybe not) is that when someone posts to the thread it will notify you that the thread has been updated. You may be able to turn that off, I am not sure as I haven't checked.

Another way would be to copy the thread address (from the address bar at the top of the page) and send it to yourself in an email or a PM (with the title of the subject so you will remember later why you wanted to save it) or just save the address somewhere for quick reference.

Another way would be to save it as a "Favorite" if you are using MSN Windows. If you are in the thread, just "add to favorites" and title it something that you will remember later. You may even want to create a Favorites folder with all your V8 Buick links for easy reference.

    Hope that helps.

Each post is numbered, so it can be done. Its a bit of a pain, though.
First, you have to do this while you know who the person is that gave you the answer.
    • You can click the person's name in any thread - the name by the avatar. A menu comes down.
    • Choose "find all posts." You will get search results. The search will yeild a thread name, and each post that person made in that thread. Each post listed will have a snippet of text so you can find the one you want.
    • Find the particular post you want. Click on the post (not the thread) and the page will load the thread at that particular post.
    • "Bookmark" (or "Favorite") that page.

That should work; try it with this thread.

EDIT: I just tried it, it works.
The URL (you'll see it in the address bar of your browser) will have a post #. Here is the one for the post you are reading now:
    Code:
    http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?p=542001#post542001
That is what your bookmark would be, if you did what I outlined above with this post.

Your post, the one at the very top of this thread, is 541419.
Chris' post (above mine) is 541460.
Thus, the first reference to the number ("p=" and the number) will bring up the thread. Adding the "#post" and number will make it go to that specific post.

So, technically, if you know the post number, you can simply make a bookmark the "hard" way - by typing it in (if your browser lets you do it that way).

If printing is an option for you, you could also click on the Thread Tools link, click on Printable Version, and print out the thread to have a hard copy to keep.
