Um, I just woke up and looked out the window. I haven't seen anything like this since 1978 (those in the northeast know what I mean)

The snow drifts are taller than cars. The undrifted snow is over car fenders. It's a good thing the front door here opens IN or I'd be going out a window to shovel. The snow will be up to my hips. That's three feet, give or take. I'm wee:grin: Sweet merciful crap, there's a lot of snow here:shock:

    Hey Chris-

I'm in Southwestern Ct and it stopped here, so some relief may be in sight for you. It's still pretty darn windy hear with gusts up to 35 mph. Brrr! Nothing like a good ole Nor'easter!

Now to see if the snowblower will start...

    Oh, yea...

    I DO remember that one:moonu:

My Father was still in the military back then.

We lived a long drive down a gravel road, and the snow knocked out the phone lines. Dad spent HOURS just getting the car out of the drive-way, then a 15 hour drive to the military base,,, only to then have his C.O. tell him the base had been closed!!!!!!

He was really worried that he was going to get in trouble for not reporting:pp

That snow was soooo deep and "powdery" that we could not even sled in it! Just sunk to the bottom!

Stay safe and warm guys... If it helps, just remember that it wont last forever.

The way the wind wails across my property off the ocean, I have zero inches on one side of my property and 4 feet on the other side of the house! :jd:

Power went out early this morning before the sun came up, the wife wakes me up by shining a flashlight in my face, I was like.... then I was like :eek2:

So I go out to shovel the front porch and I can't open the door because there's too much snow. :blast:

Power finally came back on like 8am. Temp was down to like 55 inside my house. :error:

I have a non-electris ignition propane fireplace but they haven't hooked up the propane line to it yet, so it was basically useless for heat. :spank:

Then I couldn't use any water because the well pump can't run without electricity, and the storage tank only has so much capacity before I lose pressure. :Dou:

Can you say, "I need a generator?"

Trouble is, they can range anywhere from 1k to 12k probably.

What should I look for in a generator? I have a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom colonial with a well, gravity feed septic and an electric ignite oil burner.

I bet a Big Block Buick would make a good generator - Sit the car (sleeping in the garage) on some kinda treadmill setup with a generator/altinator.voltage inverter.....

I got hit pretty hard here on the north shore of Long Island - prolly 18" or so but the drifts are Killer !!

It took me a half hour to dig out the back garage door - just so I could get to the snow blower !!

I used the snow blower to clear a path back to the wood pile as pushing a wheel barrel through 2 foot drifts doesn't work too well - I'll bet my neighbors were wondering why I'm 'Plowing the back yard !!! the Dog likes the path too

Im off to do the front of the house now - the front door had drifts literally 3/4th's of the way up the door

    Pics to follow

Sorry for you guys but glad it is not us. We had a car show here yesterday that was pretty good, but the wind you guys were sending down felt pretty cold. Perhaps 50 degrees F for a high here today with little wind. Upper 50s later in the week.

Hmmmm, I have no idea what you guys are talking about....

Its 60* and overcast here in CA. Rained alittle bit last night, but looks like a nice day to open the windows for a nice cross breeze and crank up the BBQ

This is Canada and we really haven't got any snow yet. I can still cut the grass and bike around. But after seeing what other people are getting I'm thinking that the summer-like-winter will be coming to an end soon as it seems the bad weather is working its way up north.

Isn't it ironic, I am freakin' Colorado and we do not have anything on the ground! Been 60-65 degrees all weekend! :Do No:

5 pm...snow might, just MIGHT be letting off a little but it hasn't stopped. The street my car is on probably last saw a plow at 10pm last night. I dug the car out and that's fine, but the end of the street t-bones with another going downhill...and the street hasn't been cleared. How the %^#@ does Boston expect me to drive out of here? What if there was a fire? How would the firetruck get down this street? It's crazy over here. This is the year 2003 for Pete's sake, hire some guys with shovels and make the road safe, Boston!:puzzled:
