I'm not up on the rules ..but this is with all buick parts isn't it?.....yea qjet and all iron and 455cid ...cam limited and compression limited
Yes. Iron intake, quadrajet etc. Engine probably makes around 600, but can touch the 9s at 3600-3700lbs :0
I know they stock class guys have some really trick stuff in the driveline and suspension but still....goin 9s with stock stuff vs what we know it normally takes to get in the 9s is wild
Yeah I'm sure it has a very trick 10,000 dollar 200 in it.........I dont know ifvthey are compression limited in this class or not.......but I knowthey have alot of rules.......and it takes alot of tricks to work around them
They would barely handle a 305 or 231 in stock form.....getting hit with what those guys are hitting them with round after round ...yea I'm sure that's $$$
Jason’s car has to weigh at least 3,445 lbs with driver. In qualifying all cars must cross the scales on the return road after the run. Scott McClay built both his TH200 and mine. Jason told him to build a duplicate of his, including gear ratios. I had it shipped here from Scott’s shop in California. And by the time that I had it installed in my car, it was just shy of $7,000, including needed parts and fluid. Buick 455 block, crank, heads, intake, and 750 cfm Quadrajet with NHRA approved rods, pistons, and rocker arms. Stock valve size and lift at the valve. And machined and assembled to NHRA specifications. My car is in the Cars For Sale thread. It has to weigh 3635 lbs with driver. It could easily run .15 quicker at sea level.
When did you buy yours, be interesting to have back to back info from a 400 to a 200. I've always heard that a 350 is a solid tenth faster than a 400 in the same car just from the rotation weight........and from what I heard the 200 are even better more like a glide weight but with the extra gear. I know alot of ppl like the Kilgore trans too but since it's not factory based it's not allowed
My ‘85 El Camino has a 200C (three speed with lockup) and the guy who rebuilt it said he knows a bunch of racers who like that trans because it’s light and saps very little power (like a ‘glide but with a better first gear) and can be built to handle power like the 350/400s. Patrick
The compression ends up around 12.5 in the stocker Buick in that deal ...060 over and allowed slight offset grinding..470+- cid
How can that be possible to run a mostly cast iron 455 in the 9's. What mods are allowed in that class besides the 200 trans. This to me is just mind blowing. Can anybody explain this ? VET
