Hey guys and gals if there are any here. Before you rip into that quadrajet' either have a complete kit on hand or atleast a new airhorn gasket. Thats the one between the top and throttle body. They are available seperately from napa under part # 2-7531 for about 6 bucks us. Pricey yes but if you rip your only existing gasket which frequently happens on old gaskets you're screwed,

    I agree with the thanks.

I've got a 71GS 350 with a hesitation when throttling it. Do you think a rebuilt carb will solve that or is it something else.

The car looks nice but needs some tuning. Here's a pic.

Mike its really hard to properly diagnose a stunble or a hesitation without really driving these things. How about I come drive your car? Its beautiful! How does it stumble or hesitate? Lets say you're just cruising at 30 mph and just start to accelerate but not stomping on it. Does it do it then or do you have to really punch it at low rpm's then it does it? Two totally different scenarios with two different problems heh? Has your engine had any modifications? Is your carb the correct one for your engine?

    rod settings...

    alright
i'm looknig at picking up a set of 70 jets and 42 rods.
can someone give me the diamaters of these jets and rods? I left my book at school.
    and .0527" secondary CK

this is a general starting point i imagine

    I currently have
    69 jets
    44b rods.
    and BS for secondarys.
to my understanding this is a very lean setup.

it is going on a '70 350 that was a 2bbl (low compression) the carb is also a 70 buick carb ending in 44 the car is a curuzer with the th350 trans. I also live in an area with up to 15% ethanol in the gas :af: and we have idle emission testing.

any pointers and suggestions? and can someone give me actual dimentions of the jetting/rods so i can pick up the edelbrock replacement rods.

    Nate,
Jet #'s are orifice size in thousandths of an inch, so 70 would be .070. A 42 rod would have .042 inch diameter at it's thicker portion, all rods have a .026 tip at their smallest point. A "B" after the rod # denotes a double taper as opposed to a single taper. All Q-jet secondary jets are .135 inch diameter. Hope that helps. You may be able to order rods and jets from GM. 70 jets are part# 7031970, 42 rods are 7031842, 42B rods are 7034842 and CK secondary rods are 7045781.
