I've been to that one on Mushrush Rd once. Lots of stuff there (I think there was about 7 Vista Cruisers). His prices are quite high, but the amount of rare stuff is almost worth it. If you're into Regals, another junkyard north of Butler on RT 308. It's called Renicks. They crushed 2 years ago but I hear the yard is filling up again.

The one South of Pittsburgh that you may be referring to is Don's. It's On RT 60. going South from Pgh you'll pass the Beaver exit and get off the next one. Brighten Heights I think. Anyways, you make a left off of the ramp, go to the stop sign and make a right. Go a few miles till you see school buses on your left. The yard is an old farm (complete with cows--they follow you around so watch out). The whole thing is probably 300 acres with 150-200 being full of cars. They have a new side and an old side. They crush the new side pretty regular, but the old side still has skeletons of cars.

    Greg,
Did you take any pics at Winters? Maybe I should talk to Winters about my commission.

    Ros

  9. we did not take any pics
we are goikng back there next month again
    the prices where not high
compared to other yards i would say he's right on the prices
every yard i have ever been at you have to feel the guy out on what thing are worth money to him
    some are sheet metal
    some are engine parts
    some are drive tran
    his is trim and chrome
so every thing else is workable
    and if he smiles
that ment to me i could deal a bit
    and i did
as far as i was concerned
the yard was a great stop
lots of history learned talking to jim
his old car in the garage was something to see as well
and all the old pictures of the yard from year to year
we got lots of parts and a history lesson in the process
    thanks again

Last time I was there that car was in a shed with just a man door. Maybe he cut an end out and moved it to a garage. I think the car is a Hudson Hornet.

One of the reasons I said his prices were high, is that I was looking at a 455 in a Electra. He said he wanted $300 for it and wouldn't deal. That would seem like a fair price for other folks, but in Western PA that's expensive for a motor that hadn't had an oil pan for 3 years. Rusty motors like that would only get $100 (or less) from me.

hey thanks for all the great responses..ill be going thru pa in june..hope to find some good stuff..thanks again ...john

  12. anytime you can get a motor for $200 or less grab it
i have worked in the scrape industry for alot of years off and on
when the scrap was high (and most of the yard place there prices that way)
    it was $250 a ton
now its about $150 a ton
    but
time to take the motor out
    time to deal woth customers
and the weight issue comes into play

Just want to let eveyone know that Jim Winters sold all the cars to a demolition company and they are dragging the cars out and cutting them up for scrap. So if anyone needs anything from that vintage yard you better hurry up!
