Just finished converting my 65 Skylark to bucket seat and center console. Big thanks to Mark who was parting out a 66 GS on this site for selling me the console and all the linkage I needed for the conversion. He even cut out a piece of the floor so I could have a template for cutting the hole.

I picked up a set of 66 corvair buckets and was not really sure if they were going to work because there was talk of them maybe being to wide but they worked out just fine. It seems that the earlier years may be too wide.

I was lucky enough to pick up an Olds tack and with the help of my computer was able to turn it into a Buick tack. Not exact but not bad.

One more problem. What to do with the old steering wheel and bench seat?
What else , make a love seat with center table and cup holder out of it!

    Some photos and cost below:

    Used 66 corvair buckets $200
    New covers, pads 430
    used console 150
    tack (ebay) 37
    paint odds and ends 25
    total $842
I forgot the floor brackets, they were about $35

    Looks great!

I also like what you did with the bench seat. When I first moved out on my own years ago, my living room furniture was bucket seats from a '99 Honda with home-made brackets on the bottom similar to how your bench is setup. For watching TV or playing video games, it was quite comfortable.

Thanks for the nice words guys.
My daughter was very upset when I told Her I was going to take out the bench. She remembers when she was a little thing and we would strap her in the passenger seat belt with My wife (three in the front). This was my way of giving her a little of the car before I kroke. She is going to put it in her apartment. She will get the rest of the car when I do Kroke!
