I got pictures of the 69 skylark he mentioned. He want's 950 for it as is, and that's too much. He explained to me the value of the car, $700 for front clip, $900 frame, $300 trunk lid, etc. I said I would pass. I was going to go by and check it all out, but never did. He asked me a few days ago to give him an offer.
Its amazing how he'd want $950 from you, but I cant see him getting more than $200 for a scrapped car...and would rather crush it than let someone get a good deal and let the car live on. What is it with these guys that have managed to collect all these old cars? They want top dollar as if the car is worth it in parts... and if separated with the right buyers it might be worth that.. but in one piece with all the work of trying to part out a car it only worth scrap.
I called his bluff on the scrap threat by saying I'd give him $100 over scrap value. Why wouldn't he take that deal, unless he really wasn't going to scrap them?
by the way, 3 shields, thanks for posting. Based on the pictures I saw, there are probably some good deals to be had there. Who knows, I might end up with that 69 anyway.
