Kelly's story reminded me of a good one...

After reading Kelly's 'a little nos in your eye,' I was reminded of a couple summers ago...

I was driving my newly acquired '66 Special Deluxe 4 door when a nicely restored 69 Z28 (clone for all I know) pulls up next to me at a notorious local light.

The Special had my wrecked Skylark's running gear in it, a 350/TH350/3.36gear flowing thru a set of headers and 2.5" pipes with the Quiet "Hemi" mufflers. I nodded and gave a rev, although I'm sure he couldn't hear it over his idle.

Light dropped and he faked me on the light, he casually eased into WOT by the end of the intersection both tires screaming by now. So of course I get into the pedal, and by the top of 2nd gear I've caught him and pulled two cars.

We pulled up to where traffic had slowed to a crawl about a mile down the road and he screams over his lopey idle to me... "Nice Chevelle!"

Honestly, does this look like a Chevelle?

I miss that car. $800 as a roller, solid as the day it was new... too bad it was a 4 door :Do No:

That's a sweet looking sleeper, I hope you didn't get rid of it just because it was a 4 door.

I swapped the front clip onto my Skylark that I put head first into a tree, threw a somewhat solid front clip back on the 4 door.

I sold it to a guy from Wilkes-Barre. He did the body work and paint, then threw a smog'd 455 in there. Haven't heard anything since.

    here's a post-crash pic of the skylark...

Looks pretty solid other than the small dent in the front.

Wow, that sucks. I hope the tree was ok (just kdding). I hope you didn't get hurt. I'm glad you were able to fix it. I guess I can understand stealing the parts off of the 4 door to fix the 2 door.

I didn't feel bad about it because I knew someone was going to put the 4 door back together for a cruiser... I gotta tell you tho, I was soooo tempted to cut that thing up :eek2:

BigBlock68 Love that old car smell.

I didn't know there was any Buicks guys that close to Aston (Although I did just see a burgandy '69 GS vert while out cruising tonight if they're on the board). What part of Delco were you in when you took the Camaro?

202/1 Traffic Light, out front of Hooters in Concordville/Glen Mills.

I actually bought my 70S1 heads, SP1 intake and 2" Headers from GregD... he lives IN A-town. We're around, you just gotta keep an eye out.

If you're interested in coming out for some late night debauchery with that 'Lark, drop me a PM... The good weather's coming, and we'll surely be out on the pike 'cruising' :Brow: :3gears:

Heh... sorry dude I'm only 15 (dad drives the car for now, while I work on it)... don't think I could come up with a good enough excuse for that one.

Probably see you guys out cruising though. I like to go to Cruise Nights at Thomas Chevrolet and show the Chevy guys what a real car looks like.

Don't let all those old farts get to you... I got a lot of negative attention based solely on my age when I used to go to Thomas' Nights.

My theory? They're just pissed they had to wait until thier retirement to get a car as sweet as mine... and they'll surely never have one as fast :TU:

Drop me a PM when you get your license, I'll point you towards some spots. But whatever you do, DO NOT waste your time in South Philly--bunch of 15 and 16 second ricers :puzzled:

Here's a picture from the end of last summer. The street is literally prepped like a track, and if you're in the groove you dead hook. Thats a big-inch sbc/M21 '67 Chevelle on the left, me on the right.

Chevy guys at Thomas seemed pretty impressed with the car since it's probably 90% original at this point. I'll be sure to PM you when I do get my lisence though. Btw are you going to the Fairless Hills show May 21?
