Well, if your a nut like me, you unbend all the staples, remove them carefully and reinstall them using the existing staple holes in the plastic. And use contact cement
Hey Steve. That's how I did it. It appeared to be stapled on originally from the factory on my 67 GS. Edit: Jason and I must have posted simultaneously!
I did the carpet on my door panels with heavy duty carpet adhesive, maybe that will work. Spray carpet and kick panel , allow a few minutes to tack up then bond to kick panel
I noticed staples there too so I think I will try the staples and contact cement or carpet adhesive. Also, any advice on where to get the little airduct grill for the driver side kick panel. mine is busted up. I only see new kick panels with thr grill, not the grill by istelf when I look around.
If you buy the reproduction kick panels and try to staple the carpets on, the staples will crack the plastic at every location. To do this without cracking you would need to drill the holes for each staple and put them in by hand. Duane
Thanks. I am just putting the carpets back in with stock kick panels. my car was in an accident and the front driver fender was smashed up. Since I was repairing that and having paint, I had the body and paint guy put in lizard skin and some sound deadner on the floors. For whatever reason, he yanked off the original carpet and threw it away. I see staples in there everywhere so I will try to take them out and then glue the new carpets back on and put the staples back in.
