It was a chevy fest (along with about 1000 ricers) at the 1/8 drags a week ago. Being the only buick there I decided i'd have to represent a little with the 67 riv. After taking out a few ricers (not bad races) and an 80's firebird i got paired up with I lined up to a pretty mean looking new camaro SS convertible with a rollcage. Thinking i bit off more than i could chew with the old girl I went reluctantly up to the line. Forgetting the torque buicks are famous for i was surprised when I jumped him off the line by about a car length or more. Slowly loosing my lead as he crept up on me I crossed the line .23 faster. With that under my belt I was feeling pretty cocky. For a car that has been in a barn for 20 years with 8:1 (don't ask) compression I was doing pretty well. My next lineup was with some a**hole in a beutifully restored chevelle who, when i tried to talk to, blew me off as a punk with a lowd ugly car. So i decided id at least try although those 502 badges are pretty scary. So we line up and I rev the engine more than i normally do for a start (dont have a tach so i do it by ear) and let her go I jumped out ahead so far it was awsome even with my right tire squeling a bit. With at least a 1or 2 car lead i was feeling good but for all my effort that thing closed that gap so fast it was scary and crossed the line by just enough to win with an ET of 9. 074 and leave me with a 9.379 (my first 9.3!). He probably mest up or somthing but still the feeling was great that i had come so close that i probably pissed him of a little. That counts for somthing right?

this was at qualcom (hence the abundant ricers). I havent gone since because i have no time... or gas. Hell week for waterpolo started up just 2 weeks ago so i have absolutly zero energy not to mention some lady sideswiped me on the way to practice yesterday. Good news is i found a good front fender bad new is its in LA and I have work / practice for the next 3 months straight. Anyway, If anyone wants to meet up at the races let me know. I could skip a few practices.
