John, is there any place you can get it indoors with some heat? I think you're going to have to wet vac anything wet to the touch, get the temperature up and run a dehumidifier before mildew sets in. It will be a big challenge if you have the original natural jutte under the carpet. It may have to come out to be dried properly.

Anyone else been through this? I have, but didn't get to it in time and had to replace the carpet.

I'm afraid you'll have to water test it (hose it) to know what's happening...I had some rust in the cowl area on my car that I couldn't see, but I don't know specifically what to look for on a Riviera.

Sorry John, I am poor at keeping up with who is working on what. Maybe you could put a few items about your Skylark in your signature line to help those of us with bad memories.

If it's going to the body shop soon, they should be able to do the best job as they will be taking some stuff apart anyway, and may have experience with this sort of stuff.

Wet vac it the best you can in the meantime; will it be going to the shop anytime soon? If not, you might want to get the carpet out before the weather starts to warm up.

yea im sorry about that...i mean the carpets coming out in like 15 minutes lol, but ive heard from soooo many people where 68-72 a bodys are prone to leak(corners of trunk/pass floor/driver floor) but i want it stopped asap...which will have to wait untill summer when i get enough money...i have a garage but my dad refuses to put one of our cars( he has a 65 bel air) because of landscaping equip. and watch our cars rust/chase rust....idk frustrating...did anyone run into these leak problems and find a solution??

Your leak is prolly around the windshield, most likely the upper area. Keep in mind a nor'easter can blow snow in places you would never imagine. Dry it out, re-tarp it, especially the windshield/a-pillar area. If it ever happens again, look where the snow has blown in, you may find your leak.

Windshield is a much more common cause...I would re-seal the windshield before looking at cowl seams...much easier to get to, a good glass co. will re-seal it for arond 250.

tlivingd BIG BLOCK, THE ANTI PRIUS

cowl seal between the firewall and the top of the cowl. It's a stupid design. lets make it lip up to hold water, and if the seal dries out it will leak. some black polyurathane roof caulk works great and it's cheap.
