left quarter panel replacement

    getting close to welding on left quarter panel replacement, there is a strip of foam or rubber about 2" wide between the wheel house and the quarter panel in the middle of wheelhouse , what is this and what can I use to replace it with.

    Was used to adhere the panel to the support brace...SEM has a foam type material to replace it
