I also hung up some of my old plates along the header beams in my garage ,but this just got put up in where the 4 post lift opening is now..
I didn't realize tag restoration was a thing (makes sense it would be) & so did a search & found out this place is less than 15 min. from me: https://www.restoreatag.com/
Ryan, I have some PA plates. If you don’t have any from PA I can send you a few. Free to the collector that would appreciate them. Duane
Dano, Yeah, when I bought my 70 GSX out of California, I got both original plates for the car. The rear one was all beat up, so I sent both out to be restored. The guy did a beautiful job, and they went with the car. Duane
Yeah I don't get into it all that far. I just like the old tags on the wall and I thought it would be cool to have a story of who I met and got them from just like the one I got from you. I have one that came from Washington State that was on a car I got from CJP69 (Chris AKA Crack Spider) Like I said before its just for fun I don't want to get all into restoring tags.
Thats cool Duane. I do not have a PA one. Would you like a NC to hang in your new garage. When people ask you why you have a NC plate you can tell them some crazy guy in NC gave it to you lol
Sure, When I moved into the new house there was a plate from Texas on the wall. I need to contact the old owners and ask if they want it back. (I think they forget to take it.) I know I have at least 1 old PA plate from one of Dad’s cars. I don’t remember the year, but the old tags had the shape of the state outlined with the numbers inside. I always thought they were cool looking. Duane
I would only have it done for YOM plates I'm putting on a car. Picked these up last year for my '71 GS & they're very nice but good to know having them restored is an option if/when I find similar for my '70.
Have a good supply of Western plates, meaning mostly CA, AZ, NM and TX. Also a near mint pair of Michigan Bicenteniall or 76 plates.
In most states, if the object is physically attached to the house, it is considered to be part of the house. If the plate was nailed or screwed to the wall, it's yours, unless it was written into the sales contract that it didn't go with the house. That's why you can take the framed pictures on the wall, but technically you have to leave the hooks. When we bought the house where I live now, I specified that the commercial size air compressor stays. It is not attached to the floor, has a 220V wall plug, and the air hose is on a quick-disconnect fitting; it was not physically attached to the house. A gray area would be a refrigerator with an icemaker or in-door water. I'm not sure whether the water line would constitute "being attached to the house" or not. In my case, the previous owner specified that the refrigerator stayed, so it was not an issue for me. You can still give the plate back if you want to.
Yeah, I think the girl’s family came from Texas so I will contact them and see if she wants it. Met the couple at settlement and they were very nice. If they don’t want the plate it will most likely be sent along to Ryan. Duane
Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few days. Thank you guys for bringing tags. It will be interesting to see how many states I end up with. Very cool
