I am starting to look for a replacement header bow for my 70 Skylark Vert. Looks like you can buy new for about $350. Does anyone have a decent used one for sale or found them cheaper? Lastly, has anyone replaced one of these lately, how difficult is it, any special tools needed? It's been a long time since I worked on cars, but I am not afraid to try. Any thoughts?

Did you try that Covertible specialty supplier in Punta Gorda FL? Do a google search I forget their name.

Thanks Dave - Does Hydro-E-Lectric sound right? They have it listed for $379. Thank you for the suggestion.

Yep that is the place. Pretty pricey I guess but that is the way everything is now on these cars. Just don't tell my wife. I think she figured it out anyway as she always seams to get my credit card bill before I do.:Dou:

I just bought one from The Parts Place, 359 plus shipping. It's stamped and assembled in Taiwan, but looks really good. I can now see why they're so much.

They just bolt on and there is nothing special to it.

There is one manufacturer and many resellers.

Have you eve tried to fill and repair a bump or two under the vinyl on a bow?

If you mean the front header bow....yes, while I had the car stripped as I was restoring it.

If you mean the top of the windshield under the vinyl covering, yes....while I was restoring a car. Welded in a new plate and ground welds, then used a very light skim coat of Duraglass.
