About 15 years ago, my friend said he saw a car just like mine in Providence, RI. As I had never seen another one before, I was interested. Alas, I don't live in the Ocean State, so no dice.

But the other day some guy from the Yenko site emailed me and asked where he could track down some old cars. One of 'em was a white 442 with blue top. I asked him if it had blue stripes, and he answered in the affirmative, so I asked for some photos. After some scrounging, he sent me this pic.

He also lives an hour from Providence. Could it be the same car? It's gotta! :bglasses:

To date, this is the only other one I know in the same color scheme, and it's 1 of 5 or so other ones I know with blue stripes.

I used to have pics of the dark blue one but lost it when my drive crashed. Do you have a pic? My memory recalls it didn't look as cool than other color combos I've seen.

And could you find the white/blue thread for me?

Ouch. My '72 Cutlass S post coupe looked like that after being rear-ended (while parked) by a drunk driver in a Lincoln. The b@stard was able to drive away, trailing coolant. I know it was a Lincoln because I traced the part numbers on some parts he left behind.

When the cop showed up 3 minutes later, he refused to go after the guy. Just sat in my driveway filling out the form. Wouldn't even get out of his car. I'm not sure who I'm more mad at.

What kind of Lincoln was it? Was it like a Town Car?

    Mike:

Friend in New Hampshire has been trying to sell a 1977 Town car for a while now. It was on ebay last month. Originally owned by a big time gangster out East, still in fabulous condition. Not sure if it finally went, he was really down low on it as he needed the room for his big $$$ cars. Too bad you're so far apart.

Michael, it was a long time ago. As I remember, it was a mid-80s ('84?) Town Car. So you and your '78 are off the hook. :)

Diego, when are you going to move out of The City so you can play with cars again?

I would like to have seen a mobster-owned Lincoln. Hopefully it will go to a good home.

Talked to him last night and it sold for $1200. He wanted more, but only one offer so he took it. Said it was mint. Dark Blue. No bullet holes in it.

One of my Dad's neighbors in Philadelphia was a big time classic restorer years ago and had quite a collection of late 20's early 30's Lincolns, Cadillacs, and one dual cowl Packard (1928, I believe). Both the 1932 Lincoln KB limousine and the 1929 Lincoln Touring car were from an old mafia family out East. The 29 still had three bullet holes in the back of the body. It was aluminum, so I don't think the bullets were stopped, but nothing showing inside. He totally restored them and left the bullet holes in the 29.

    Andy, thanks for the pic!

However, take a look again. The roofline doesn't look like a Cutlass S. It looks more like a Supreme, no?

Looks more like a Supreme now. but check the roof line at the door glass. Seriously distorted. Could have been a regular S before it was shortened up. As is, still looks better than the 78-80 Salons and 442's, the original Buttless Cutlass.
