Which is best the best TH 400 to use in a Nailhead / TH400 combo in an A body ? I believe it is a short shaft ..... 425 Nailhead
ST400's for the nailhead were made from 64-66. '64 was a one-year-only version with a different case and valve body, and a shifter with only 'Drive' and 'Low'.....no 2nd. 65-66 both had the switch-pitch feature, so that's what you want! Go with the short-shaft version, used in most (if not all), applications. I don't even see a long-tail ext housing in my '66 parts catalog!
