I want to replace my trans. in my skylark to a 200-4R. Right now I have a 350 trans in there but i want better fuel mileage and less wear on the motor (lower rpm). The motor is a 455 with a KB cam (dont know specs on cam or motor) it has a B4B intake and headers with a quadrajet from a 71 BB GS. When I pull out the trans/engine I am going to freshen up the motor a little with new seals. But anyway back to my question. I am looking for a 200 4R to go behind the big block. I like to get on it but I have never been to the drag strip with it. I also dont know of any good trans. shops around here to have one rebuilt at. So I thought about ordering one off line. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have done research on here a little. Heard about CKtransmissions but that was about it, and to get one from an olds 307 cause it has a carb. I plan on doing this swap in Sept when I finally have some vacation and will be home.

Chris (CK) is on of a few "authorities" on the TurboBuick site. I don't think he would steer you in the wrong direction.

I have an '86 Olds 442 200-4R waiting to be rebuilt. I am planning to use a CK kit and hard parts upgrades. The difficulty is finding someone local with a good reputation to do the work.

I may just end up buying a CK built unit ready to go to avoid shipping in both directions to have him build the one I have.
