1970 Skylark / GS rear bumper bracket rubber.....see pics

Does anyone reproduce this rubber bumper? These usually always tear when attempting to remove.

Dan, I have never seen those. Were they added by someone? I do not think mine even have holes there. The assembly manual does not show them.

Well It looks like the holes are in mine but no rubber. Maybe they rotted off? Funny the assembly manual does not mention them. Maybe the purpose was to keep the brackets from hitting the floor boards?

I would think the rear deck lid bumpers would work.

Assembly manual and Service manual shows them for 1970 Skylark Wagons, LeSabre, Electra and Riviera,

just not for the 2dr and 4dr Skylark/GS.

BUT, parts manual do show them for the A bodies and A body wagons.

Just another part that makes you go Hmmmmmm....

    Dave,

The number is for reference only.

I've found in all my years of dealing with reproduced parts, vendors will list their
repro part with the GM number for identification, case in point as you well know,
AMK list GM numbers for customer identification in order to sell their parts.
I doubt that the part is reproduced, it was only available on '68, '69, '70 and '72 models
    that I posted.
But I do agree with you that the deck lid bumper could possibly work in its place. :TU:

The rear bumper brackets on my 70 Skylark 2Dr has them . Quite sure they are original. This may have been a situation like many others at the assembly plants, line supervisors telling line workers to use these brackets before you open a new box. Use up the old/leftover parts guys! Who knows for sure? JIM/Rott

    Jim,

In what your saying is true in many cases through the years.....but this particular part seems to be a brain buster.

From what I can tell this part had an earlier number of 398998 and became the 1387026 by the '70 model. Both of these numbers are listed for 1969 and the 1387026 being a new number for the '69 model wagon. The anchor brackets do not
look similar and carry a different number on the wagon from the coupes and 4drs so without an in depth study I don't
    believe there is an interchange.
The bumper appears on the wagons to go between the anchor bracket and the "baffle" which mounts to the bracket on the wagons with a 1 way opening tailgate. (2 way, 1 bumper left side and no baffle).
Also the anchor bracket, rubber bumper and baffle were also used on Oldsmobiles "A" wagons thus (for you digit counters)
the six digit part numbers of the bracket ( 398330,398331) baffle (401569) and early rubber bumper (398998).
Also to add to the brain twist, the Build Manual shows the rubber bumper on Rivieras but the Parts Manuals do not.
AND the 1387026 is listed 4 times in Parts Manuals under different groups and different names. Those names
    being "pad" and "bumper"
An early manufacturing design with a bleed over into the '70 model 2 & 4drs before a change......maybe....Hmmmmmm
    :Do No:

But now ya'll know what I know :TU:

As far as sixty nine 2/ 4 door models are concerned, there are no circular rubber pieces on either bumper...Maybe one of the 3 on the back of the hood? I will take a look next week...

The first set of pictures is an original bumper (which I had cleaned all the dirt off - the other side bumper had torn in two pieces), came off a Flint Stage1. The one in the picture above (still on the car) is from the Kansas Plant.
