Can you mail me some photos of the car in question ? I can put them in this thread if you want, mail to: erikboattailmeetingphotos@gmail.com :TU:
Think I'm heading to flint, any thing I can do other while I'm there.. they are only 5 hrs from me... Across the pond.. Scott
Here are a few photos Scott mailed me. Looking at the vinyl roof, it could be just a regular 1975 Century Custom with T-top option. I'm curious what the Sloan people will find out about the VIN...
Yes, it will indeed be very interesting. The previous owner stated he had the car brought up from the states, after it was redone, with the addition of that ugly Top... When you get up close you can see it isn't factory. I'm hoping. Scott
Even when it turns out not to be a genuine Pace Car, it still will turn many heads when you convert it into a perfect clone with al the right decals :TU:
"But Santa said I could have a REAL one, really he did." Suppose it would but thats kinda like cheatin. She'll be spectacular, all dressed up to play. If it's real then you have to play by the book, its only right, Right, If it is just close, well them we can have some fun.. "about those killer Eldo rims" Seems her first date could be Sat. "See you there, Trudy,"
Erik with a "K" and Pat, We're in total agreement with what the "model" is, its just different names. In other words nobody is wrong. For those years GMSPO Publication prints what they know or what they have as far as Parts Books, manual etc....Buick Motor Division prints their catalogs in a different manner. No matter if its a Century Luxus or a Century Custom its the ID that tells what it is. AH57 A = Century H = Custom or Luxus with "Formal 1/4 Windows" 57 = 2drs :TU: Destrada 1975 Pace Cars = 1813 built for the Retail Market Options are the GS pkg = Blacked out grille and taillights,HD suspension,15x7 painted ralleys with GR70-15 radial tires. 350-4 with a TH350 and a 2.56 axle. Bucket seats with console. The graphics and T-tops were installed by Hurst. Which was the first year for Hurst T-tops. Official 1975 Pace cars built 2, 1 is at the Sloan museum the other is at Indy. The specs for the BBB installed reads the same as a Stage 1 motor with special attention to the rest of the drivetrain. The Sloan Museum is your best bet for info on the car if you think its real. :TU: David
I was going to say the same thing as David. The factory literature often gave different names for interior colors/ models/ etc. depending on whether it was sales info, that was intended for customer end users, or factory info intended for dealer use. Duane
"SANTA's DEAD !!!!" How will I ever fix it, without his help !!!! EriK w/K you're just cruel.. I had such a great wish list made up... Thanks Guys for all the help and the phones calls. It's real to me Sloans will tell all.
Nothing productive to add here, but I LOVE 75 Pace Cars! I've seen a 76 in person, but never a 75. Hope you get the car done and down into the States for a show sometime and I get to see it. Best of luck in the resto!
From the sounds of things there may be a pair of 75s touring together, For those who'd like to know Trudy' is trying to get to the Stratford Festiveal Show next weekend with his 75 Pace Car. Where is the closest show State side for us CDN, boys
