This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

  3. Hi Guys, Currently, the security certificate for the board has expired.. this has nothing to do with any type of hack, and you are not at any risk by clicking thru the security warning screens. Mike Bucy, our tech admin, is currently out of town and does not have the required information with him to update the SSL certificate. He will return on Weds, and this issue should be resolve shortly thereafter. Again, there is no security breach, or cause for users to be concerned about visiting or using V8Buick.com. Thanks JW

    3shields Let's go, MOUNTAINEERS!!!

I need to change the seals, and service the rearend in my 70 GSX. I think someone told me there was a board member who knew where and how to get the correct parts, or maybe even had a supply.

I assume I need both axle seals, a pinion seal, a crush sleeve and nut?

    Thanks in advance.

Everything is available except the crush sleeve, but that can be re-used. As far as bearings/seals go,nothing obsolete for the 1970 rear.

    FYI.
There are 2 different axle seals used on the 70, 8.2 rear axles. One is .375 thick, the other is .490 thick. The parts books and computers do not reflect this. Make sure to measure your original seals before installing the seals and bearings. The thicker one is listed for the 71 and newer 8.5 axles.
    National 2146 is .375, National 712146 is .490.
The bearing is the same National A-9.

    Nice info!

Someone needs to post a sticky that lists part numbers of bearings/seals for the various Buick years/rearends, so that people won't have to search through old posts for it. And what's still available easily and what's harder to find.

These posts keep popping up with the same questions.
