Thanks! I'm ridiculously lucky to own it and also to have this board as such a invaluable source of information. Next up is new brakes. Nothing fancy, just some good (hopefully) made in the U.S. components. Aside from that, it's turnkey and go pretty much anywhere.
While waiting for my mechanic friend to get back from a brief trip to Florida, (I need his lift) I made the second and (hopefully) final clip regarding correct engine bay details for a '70 Stage 1.
Took Mom to an annual show at the beach yesterday. 70 ish mile round trip with zero hiccups and it barely got over 180° - even as the afternoon warmed up and I was basically soaked by the time I dropped her off. Safe to say this car is finally turn-key and go anywhere.
Whenever I find a straightaway, someone invariably pulls out while I'm in 3rd going into forth. Always.
I had finally had a chance to install the new blue tabbed heater cable Inline Tube offers. I had previously tried fixing it with cable clamps but they just didn't last. So, apart comes the dash. While I'm there, I disassembled and greased the headlight and wiper switches, replaced some missing bulbs in the speedometer and tore out all the firewall insulation. Well, I should say it disintegrated when I touched it, so out all of it came. The Inline Tube cables are a perfect fit and after some lithium grease was applied, the heater controls move much more smoothly and you can hear the heater box go from heat to defrost. One of my rear sail panel dome lights was out and I was concerned that was going to also disintegrate in my hands. That whole area of the rear package tray is always exposed to UV rays and it was a crap shoot. These things are known to get brittle easier due to direct exposure to light. Not these, though. Popped out and back in easily which I attribute to this car being garaged most of, if not, all if its life
