    Hi all!
Well I got some bad news this week . They anounced that as of Sept 2nd they are closing the shop I work at ( wentworth mold) and moving it to China. I'm a mold maker ( sort of like a tool and die maker) That seems to be happening alot here in Canada! God sure has his ways!! The owner has been getting government grants for research and development he has tried to get people to sign off for it but no one would as it was just a scam!! that and the fact that I haven't had a raise in 5 years really I should have left on my own but the people in the shop are like family and that makes it hard. Well now the choice is not in my hands!!
I could use some prayer for another job obviously! , but also that I would do as Christ would have me do there for the time I have left. Things are pretty bad , alot of very angry people there!! Alot of equipment is going missing etc..
I'm Ok with loosing my job I would say about 80%( ok , ok my faith isen't 100% just being honest!!) of the time as I figure God is in control and all I have really is his. He has always looked after me and my family ( wife and 3 boys) so why would he stop now! I'm not 100% sure I would be " good" with him taking all my "stuff" away but if that whats to happen I'll make the best of it!!
Legally work has to provide me with a minimum of 1 week of pay for every year of service so thats about $14,000 for me and they have offered all the equipment to the employees to purchase.
I have my name in for a bridgeport mill, a lathe , tig welder and some other equipment. I want to and I sort of feel God wants me to have my own buisness I work at the local stock car track as a tech inspector and I'm always making parts or repairing parts for the racers ( legal ones of course :) They are really encourageing me to go on my own. I think it might be a good secondary income. I have built quite alot of stuff for my 455 regal roller rockers, a custom air cleaner, and reworked the upper and lower front control arms for howe spindles. I really enjoy cars !!! My motto is there is no such thing as can't or won't fit!!!
Well my faith sure is being stretched and I'm a little nervous but I am really glad to be a Christian
I'm sure this time next time I'll be alot happier and this will all be for the best!!
    Praise God!!!! :TU:

Hang in there. Your faith will guide you. I have had quite a bit happen to me in the last two years- wife of 10 years left me for someone else, lost my job shortly after. It all seems to have happened for a reason. Too many good things happened to me since to call it a coincidence! Now I have met a fantastic lady, and I have a great job as a manager. Keep praying as I can honestly say it works!

Keep your faith in God, he will look after you and your family. Pray for guidance and leave it up to Him.

Sometimes these things happen for a reason

Is what I was told by my pops when faced with similar situation.

    You'll be fine.

I know it is difficult; but, speaking from experience it's not to difficult to land on your feet.

Heck, turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.

Now I get to look the boss square in the eyes each morning when I shave in front of the mirror!

Do you know the customer base for your business?
It would be a good time to start on your own and well maybe make the china move not as profitable. When they have no more customers. I would bet as long as you could do the same work for the same price. They would rather work with a noncommunist company.

Reminds me of a post at BT about ST Jude.
The patron sait of lost causes.

    Prayer to St. Jude

O most holy apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the church honors and invokes you universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone.

Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege given to you, to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (state your request) and that I may praise God with you and all the elect forever.

I promise, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you.

    Amen.

I don't want to start an argument here, but, God does not micro manage the world in my opinion. Having faith is great. Finding another job is up to you. I wouldn't waist any time.-Mike D.

You might find a better job you love. Hope so for you, Anyway like said above god and praying may help , BUT sounds like your a great worker to stay on the job for 16 yr. This alone will show potential Employers your the man for the job. I would hire you looking at this factor alone. You can learn another job if willing . Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Sorry to hear you lost your employment, but for every door God closes there is usually a window that opens. God does have his ways and maybe the plan for you is something better. (ie your own business as you are contemplating) I know this is scary at first.
My father inlaw moved over from Sweden to Canada in 1971 at the age of 50 and started his own mould making business, not even being able to speak the language and did very well. (now retired in your area)
Times have changed and there is no doubt that China (in my opinion) will be the manufacturing center of the world for the next decade. Financially how can we compete with their salaries and the implementation of our western technology. Sometimes we have to look at different business lines to work in, and God will let you know in his way and in his time.

I occasionally visit my inlaws in the Barrie /Oro township area and will be happy talk to you next visit up. Send me a PM if your interested.

I wish you all the best in my prayers.

    Tom

P.S. Check out some of the piston head vehicles over at the Oro line 7 Church parking lot, next concession over from Barrie Speedway. They recently went through the "Why Me & Why Now" scenerio. Perhaps you could find some understanding & comfort there.
