So like I said I love my BBB 65 Skylark and with it's new 3.73 posi in it this past season she goes and likes to screetch through all three gears. With that being said I haven't had the pleasure of getting a fun kill with it as the opportunity has not allowed for it......yet. I recently bought a 2003 Dodge Viper SRT10 and even with the 345/35/19's on the back she still kicks out at 60mph on the highway if punched. Now for the Kill.

This kill started on a brisk sunny Saturday morning a few weeks ago here in Massachusetts where the winter this year has passed us over but still gets cold in the morning. Sun has been up for about two hours now and is heating up the ground creating a nice steam emmiting from the highway pavement. Cruising to a friends house to help him out with his 68 Lark I'm steadily cruising at 80mph in fourth gear and 2500rpm's, mind you I have six gears. I steadily catch up and pass a 2012 fire engine red and freshly waxed Corvette (later in story we meet). I'm sipping on my always trusty Dunkin Donuts coffee and enjoying my ride as I pass him while he was in the middle lane and virtually no one else on the highway. At this point I have no interest in racing him......ok maybe a bit:grin:. I say he was doing about 70mph in this 65 zone. As I passed him I glanced over and he seemed to be in his mid forty's also out for a cruise. I glance up in my rearview mirror where he is now perched and I see his car jump a bit from what I assume him down shifting. He quickly jumps up a car length behind me. Again there is just about no one on the road and no need for him to be getting behind me as his lane was completely open like mine. I take a few more sips on my coffee and placed it into the cup holder. I also now downshift for a better rpm dropping me to third at 80mph and at 3500rpm's with a redline of 6500. My foot then fell heavy as if I was trying to kick the radiator and off we go! In a short adrenaline pumping time I hit 140mph and not seeing him pass me was a good sign. I look up to find him about 10+ car length's behind . Thinking it would be a closer race I pulled into the middle lane and we both dropped to about 80mph again. I cracked my drivers window to hear his exhaust as he was going to slowly pass me now. He creeps by and snaps the exhaust, I was ebarressed for him :Dou:.

I take a sip from my coffee which all remained in the not so Earth friendly styrofoam cup and returned it to the cup holder. I'm now back in third and snap up behind him in the fast lane. I stare eagerly at his rear bumper waiting for it to drop like a tramp on the dance floor. Roar goes his exhaust (which gave me wood), bumper fell and mash my pedal I go. I start about three car lengths behind him when we launch. I quickly raced up to his shiny new bumper whip into the middle lane and scream pass him as if he was almost just standing there. No contest at all, almost disapointing.

We both happen to pull off at the same exit 17 off of 495 and head the same way. I stop for gas where he pulls in behind me and he swears my car is supercharged. I open the hood to assure him it is completely stock other than the exhaust. He continues to tell me his is tuned with exhaust and aircleaner and is amazed on how fast I was. We then made small talk, filled up with gas and on our way we went. I did happen to see him around the same town two weeks later where he took a double take to me and I see he recognized me. He threw two fingers up and smiled. How quickly we all make muscle head friends.
