My motor is tapped on the back of the block for oil pressure .This leaves the oem spot on the oil pump free.I have a low oil pressure sender on the bench. Is installing one of these in this spot a good idea? Also how imprtant is something like this on our motors? It seems like I have never hurt a motor because of low oil pressure at hi-rpm.
    Any opinions.

The stock pressure sender works the low oil pressure warning light in my instrument cluster...no troubles, it's on the passenger side, just over the oil pump, the low pressure warning is what the hole's for. You can tee off the hole and use a gauge and the stock idiot light pressure switch.

I think it comes on at 7 psi:Do No:

I am not familiar at all with a spot on the pump itself for a pressure switch- am I misunderstanding you:confused:

Chris, I think he's talking about a low oil pressure switch that cuts power when oil pressure drops below a set number. Good for protecting an engine if oil pressure drops. A lot of people wire their electric fuel pumps through them.

Is this from the factory?? I've never heard of it:Do No:

    Sorry
I'm talking about the factory outlet in the block down low near oil pump..I have a screw in pressure switch that ties into the ignition circuit that cut the power to the ? and kills the engine when oil pressure fall below a certain psi.
The ? mark is for I don't quite know how to wire this into my MSD6AL.
I realize that at that spot in the oil system is the strongest but it's not being used and all the wiring for the motor is running by this spot.
Never thought about wiring in the electric fuel pump
AND I'm wondering also about the N2O cyclinoid. This would also be good you'd think!

    Dave,
I would run 2 oil pressure gauges. That way you'll know pressure at the front and rear of the block. The difference should remain constant once the motor warms up. Any change would signal a problem, so you could avoid major damage.

    low pressure switch

    Dave,

You could use this switch with a heavy duty relay to turn off any system (fuel, ign, etc.).
