LT1, TPI, or LS1 intake

    Hey guys I'm interested in making my 350 buick fuel injected without going into the aftermarket. I want to adapt a lt1 intake to it, would that be that hard? Would it even come close to fitting if I built a sheet metal adapter to make the air and water passages work. Would this work with the reverse flow cooling system of the lt1? Would a ls1 intake maybe be better for this? Maybe an old tpi system? I have looked into the after market and it isnt that great. There are the tbi systems which to me you might as well buy a q-jet and get better mileage and its a whole lot cheaper. I have looked into making a multiport intake out of my stock 350 piece but very labor intensive and the throttle body I need to use the tps is like 500 bucks. Then I would have to buy the injectors, make the injector rails, make all the wiring and get something to run it all like megasquirt. This is why I would rather use a factory designed piece that I could get into the programming really easily with and make it run right. Is there any way to do this? The lt1 manifold is supposed to be really good for torque which the buicks are known for.

    The LSx intake is completely different - so that's out.

    TPI intakes look cool and make great TQ.....but, they're all 'done' by 5000rpm. If you were putting one in a truck or just a cruiser it would work pretty good. :TU: You can get aftermarket runners & bases and port the plenum.

    Probably the two things to consider when adapting the SBC intake to a Buick 350", are the water passages and the center pairs of intake bolts/holes. On '87 & newer SBC heads/intakes, the center 2 bolts on each side, were at a 72* angle - not the traditional 90*. So...you would need to take that into account.

    The LT1 intake could make for an interesting swap. Since there was no water crossover in the intake, you could probably drill & tap holes and use AN fittings/hoses. Plus, the injectors & throttle body should sized to match the needs of a Buick 350". Of course, bigger is always available.

    Mod a Buick intake yourself. Any machine shop ahould be able to drill and then weld bungs for injectors. You can buy fuel rail stock pretty cheaply, cut to length. Then all you would need is a throttle body.

    Talk about bringing up old posts....
    I have a wealth of factory and after market LT1/4 parts laying around. I have been thinking of this for a while. Even if I had to just build a sheet metal manifold, I would love a front mount dual blade throttle body (like my dual 58mm BBK) on my ebb.
