I've got the 300 S/P trans behind the 300 in my 67 Special. A buddy of mine who's 2000 miles away has been trying to talk me into going with a manual switch on my shifter, he says some of his race buddys have done it.

Is there any advantage ?? Holding in longer ? Coming out quicker ??
    Would appreciate any feedback.
    Thanks

  2. it simply gives you the control over when the converter is in high stall rather than the kickdown linkage at the carb. for a mostly stock car i would leave it as is, for a modified car i might swap to manual toggle switch activation. I had it on one of my Buicks that i raced and i did some experimenting. I went 3 runs down the track with the converter left on high stall the whole way, then made three runs where i turned the converter to low stall after the 60' mark and left it in low for the rest of the pass. I picked up 2 tenths by turning the converter off after 60'
