I want to repaint the metal dash areas on my GS (glovebox, ash tray, etc.) and was wondering what folks have used to get the best results, my car has a black interior and I've thought about using a semiglass or low sheen black like Krylon's or perhaps a lacquer based paint, or do folks use just black base coat to get the proper look. Any tips or ideas or products that you've had success with and want to share?.. appreciate your help as always!

Prep work is probably more important than the paint you use. I bought a krylon color for my dash and then put a clear over it. Looks good over a yr later.

The top of the dash by the windshield should be almost a flat black with very little gloss. Thin BBQ black or similar. For the bottom of the dash below the pad I would use Rustoleum satin black. I just painted my A pillar covers and they came out as close to factory as you can get. Just the right about of gloss.

Thanks for the replies and tips guys! Spent the day putting trim back on the car after the nice paint job it received last week, still got lots of parts & pieces to install and waiting to pick up some parts across the border that I ordered. I always enjoy this part and like to work on all the little details that make the difference.

Dying my dash pad SEM Landau Black , like the remainder of my interior pieces. Have opted to paint the remainder of the lower dash metal and the steering column the same color/paint as the exterior of the car. Prepped as you would with exterior body and epoxy primed prior to finish coats of exterior paint. Going with flat black/low gloss black on upper dash area above pad to reduce glare. Safety first!:TU:

Yes but it can also be used on metal.
