Mix & match carb build

A friend called looking for a quadrajet for a '71 350 Buick Skylark he acquired for back storage fees. It has a Poston intake and headers, we have no idea what else if anything has been done to the engine. The car is pretty ratty looking and has some funky adapter and a Mopar carb on it that is spewing gas from several places.

I dug threw my parts and found a 7041540 carb body. I have sets of .70, .71, and .73 mains. .043, .044, and .045 primary rods. And CK CL or CT secondary rods. The only secondary hanger I found was a K.

I have a rebuild kit and new float and filter and stock fuel line. Which of the jet and rod combinations from the parts I have listed above would be a good start to get this running on the cheap?

    Thanks!

    Ken

That carb is a great carb, but it has idle bypass air that the 350 doesn't need.

A correct 350 carb would have 68 jets and .039 primary rods with CZ secondary rods.
With what you have handy, put the 70 jets .043 primary rods and CT secondary rods. There are a lot of internal differences, so it won't provide you the best set up, but it should run.

    Mark,

    Thanks for the reply!

I also found a 7029244 body, but it didn't have a base plate with it. Could I use that body with the base plate from the 7041540 carb?

    Thanks!
