I have seen some seller's make comments once the reserve is met or close to met, like "we are real close", "ready to ship to a new home', etc.

I also know in the recent sale of a Stage 1 4 speed coupe, the reserve wasn't met, and the buyer and seller quickly agreed on a price after the auction ended. Not sure if buyer had to pay a commission or not........

Right, I was actually going to start yapping it up but I didn’t. If an auction ends and no sale, BAT sends you the email of the highest bidder and seller can sell it outside of BAT and no buyer fees. I didn’t try to reach out to the highest bidder yet.

    Thank you for listing those.
I can see both sides of the bidding process. If I knew that I was going to be out of town and not available to bid at the end of the auction I could put in a proxy bid. If I were the seller it would be nice that those that could bid would keep the bidding going thus extending the time.

The way I look at it, if I really wanted to buy a car on BAT and was going to be out of town when it ended, but didn't want to make my highest bid early, or wanted to wait and see where the action ended up, I would setup a reminder and bid on my phone from wherever I was. I mean if you want it, you want it, lol! Don't be afraid to take your phone into the delivery room and bid while your wife is giving birth! :>)

Max Damage I'm working on it!

I think it also allows the bidding to go higher if multiple people are interested at the end...

Absolutely. It is a great feature for sellers and eliminates sniping.

I’m seriously contemplating taking the nitrous out if it as that really hampers it being insurable for a street car, and, I think that’s BS as guys can supe up their cars with big turbos and get insurance.

It certainly does not need the nitrous, and I haven’t hit it on this engine yet, nor do I think I’m going to at this point.

The build purpose was a street car built for race duty. Without a roll bar, mid / low 11’s capable NA.

I think removing the Nitrous might also make the car sell easier. While I believe you haven't used it yet, most sellers say they haven't used it and potential buyers rarely believe that claim. Its an awesome car and I bet its thrilling to row through the gears.

Yes. It’s fun and the VGate is so kewl. I’ve made some decisions on this car that we’re tough, like cutting the hole in the hood for added carb spacer, and modifying the trans tunnel for the VGateshifter linkage, and rolling the inner lips for the slicks to clear…but, all worth it.

The acceleration is intense, and not much on the street can beat it.

Only regret in hind site, the hood. I wish I had known more about EFI as there are ones that may have still fit under the hood and could have really checked all the boxes on Street Sleeper.

I looked up my notes and as it sits right now, there is 7/8” clearance below the hood. That’s with the Proform 950 carb, 2” Wilson style spacer and the 3/4” nitrous supply sport-star plate. The carb is 3-1/4” from carb flange. Even dropping out the 3/4” Nitrous plate, I don’t think there is a unit that will fit under the hood with the 2” spacer. I can’t bring myself to take that out, as Dyno doesn’t lie, and proved it added 25 Hp & Tq. I’ve seen 2” tall throttle body units.

    Aloha All!

Going to be listing again on BAT. Make me an offer….I'm motivated to sell and get it a new caretaker.

When you list on BAT the second time do they request a no reserve?

That’s what they said after the auction ended last year, but, also said it was a good auction, and might make an exception based on that auction.

Just curious. Are you originally from Maui?
My best friend lives in Maui and was born there. His name is Wayne Smith. Is it possible you know him?

We are both 75 years old and met each other while we were in the Navy on the East coast in 1969.
Wayne was always a drag racer on the island even in his teen years.

He raced a lot in NJ after his Navy enlistment was up. Moved back to Maui I believe in 2003. Currently has a 1970 Corvette BB that
runs about 650Hp. Let me know if you know him, it would be great to find someone that knows him.

We talk with each other every week. Vet (Navy)

PS, Never seen your car but sounds like it's a bad ass ride.
