Anybody know if a tach adapter is required to use one of the Year One tachs with the MSD 6AL?

I connected the tach input to the MSD tach connector and the tach registers up until 1400 RPM, then it drops to 0 and remains there until the RPM's come back down.

I cant run an MSD with that tach or any stock tach for that matter. The MSD needs a GOOD AM tach to work....at least around here anyway
Mostly since My chevelle buddys roll tach and the tach I had in my GS never worked with the MSD. We both went to AM tachs

    Mine works

I have a year one hood tach and run a MSD 6AL with no problem at all. A friend tried the same thing and had to use the MSD adapter they sell and now his works fine also. Give the adapter a try, it made all the difference one my buddy's car. :TU:

Using a rebuilt original hood tach here with an MSD digital 6 with no problems. I think you'll be ok if you just use the tach output on the MSD. I really think you'd not like the results of hooking the tach to the neg side of the coil with the MSD firing to it!

    Fixed

Received my MSD Tach Adapter P/N 8920 from Summit on Saturday and installed it. The tach works now.

Just for reference, MSD P/N 8920 is for use when using the magnetic pickup and P/N 8910 is for use when triggering off of the MSD white wire.
