When the 62 1/2 Plymouths arrived with 413s, drivers started abandoning 427 Fords and 409 Chevys and going to MOPARs:

In 1965-66 I remember seeing three stock production cars that could run 110-120 mph in a quarter mile. These were a 66 427 Vette, 426 Max wedge MOPARs, and a 1966 426 Street HEMI. The Vette ran in the A Sports class while the other two ran in A Stock.

In addition there was one L69 Olds in C stock that ran 114 mph in a quarter.

Back in mid 60s we felt that a Ford Falcon was a bottom of the line economy car. Then, Hubert Platt showed up with his Georgia Shaker III. [IMG][IMG]

My apologies. I guess I missed the Hemi and 427 badges.

Bill —the main point of this thread is seeing an old private boneyard that still exists. There is no need to snipe. If you not like the pictures and so forth, there is no point in looking and commenting. They cannot all be Buick. A lot of cars had bigger engines added later in life. We did not have any competitive Buicks here until the 70 model year.

Once again, my apologies. No snipe intended this time.

Such a shame to see cars just rot away. Good to see these are actually for sale.

I recall that humpback Barracudas with a 426 were so dominant that a special class was created so they had to race among themselves.

I bet the back glass in those Barracudas and the Rivi are worth some coin.

In 1978-80, I was in high school/tech school. We had John Tedder’s “Mr. Motech” hemi-cuda in our school shop. I did extensive work on that car during those years. Absolutely the coolest thing I can remember about high school.

As a Marlins fan, I'm a Marlin fan. Love the Big Fish!

My dad had an early 60's Barracuda. Took it with us to South Korea while in the USAF. Sold it before returning stateside to some dope who totalled it almost immediatelly.
