I thought the new car had 4:10.

I calculated on go fast math
    compression 10.64-1
    DCR 8.5-1

Technically 3.91. I contacted Moser because the paperwork from Phantom Works said 3.90 but Mosers website didn’t have 3.90 listed. Well 3.90,3.91 whatever it takes. Lol

For some reason I thought it was 4.10. 3.90 should be an excellent gear & is what I had Brian build for my next 350 4-sp as well. Like your prev. car, I also had 3.73 is my last 350 4-sp.

You might benefit from retarding the cam 4 degrees. Usually you want 7.5 to 8.

Thanks for the advise. Not sure why my builder set the cam where he did. Unfortunately he’s now longer here to ask questions. My calculations maybe also a little off as well. His paper work states compression at 10.6-1 but wasn’t able to find DCR. He did all calculations the old fashioned way didn’t like the on line calculators. Unfortunately no more dyno time in the near future.

Steve, I don't have all the specific measurements of your build, but what I did was play with the static compression calculator until I got 10.6:1. Static compression is static compression no matter how you get there, so the numbers don't matter. Static Compression at 10.6:1

Then I added your duration numbers, 289*/284*/113* LSA, 112.5* ICL,
    SteveCamTiming.JPG
    Dynamic Stroke Length,
    SteveDSL.JPG
    And finally DCR,
    SteveDCR.JPG

Advancing the cam further increases DCR. If you had installed the cam 4* advanced at 109* ICL, the DCR would be,

    Larry,
Steve's cam card doesn't list advertised abdc int closing #'s.
Does the above calculations figure it out exactly? Just wondering...

It should. I input the numbers from the cam card. It has to do that to figure Dynamic Stroke Length, and DCR.

I didn't see a recommended ICL on the card. Steve probably has another page that he didn't post, or I missed it?

Edit, it recommends straight up installation, so .5* is it.

So 48.5* Intake closing, but that is .050 cam timing. My calculator uses Advertised Duration numbers.

Yes, some say add the magic 15* number to @.050 numbers, but that only makes int closing 63 * & not 77*.

As far as cam specs go that’s all I received with the cam. I have to go through the notes he left me. His unfortunate passing before completion makes it hard to decipher what was preliminary and what was final.

OK, so what I posted should be correct with 10.6:1 static compression, and the information on your cam card. You should have no problem running pump gas.

Never heard that one. The calculator I used was the same one Jim Weise used for my 470.

    Yep, 15* sounds hokey...:D
Can't remember if Steve's pistons had a quench pad for optimum use of the alum closed chamber heads?

Thanks for the input it’s always appreciated. I’m sure what he did is spot on. I’m just curious to get the exact calculations. I may have to bring my notes to his close friend and have him help me sort things out. Rich was a super intelligent builder. After all his builds made Jason Line a Pro Stock champion, as well as Jeg and Erica IMG_3004.jpeg
