    Hi guys,

I have a 1965 skylark coupé with a 300 v8 but it's been sitting in my garage for 2 years. I want to fire it up, clean it and give her some love.
Last time i drove it everything worked as normal.

what should I check and do before firing it up?
I bought a new battery because the old one was dead for good and a couple of tires because one was deflated and the car had its weight on it.
I imagine I have to change the oil and fuel filter, replace the oil and the fuel.

Can I fire it up and drive it to my mechanic which is less than half a mile from my home for a full inspection? or that's enough road to break something if the oil or the fuel are bad?

I found this article on hagerty about cold start checks, what do you think about it?

Pull the coil wire and spin it over until you have oil pressure showing on the gage. Fill the float bowl if the pump has not already done it for you , replace that wire and fire her off.

Drain the tank. If the fuel that is in the tank is E10, it is bad and unusable. Change the oil and do as Briz suggested above.

thank you guys! Unfortunately I understood I didn't had time to work on it nor the experience so the mechanic towed it to its shop and it's being looked thorougly. I hope.

Hard to tell, I may ask him tomorrow. They aren't expert on American classic cars but they do have Italian classics there from time to time. The old guy I'm sure he knows old engines. I hope his experience is enough.
