The man who sparked my interest in cars, the man who taught me what it means to be a man,the man who when I was a child would rush me to the emergency room when my diabetes flared up, sit up with me all night and then go and work construction for the next 8 hours, the man who never let anything like pain or sickness keep him from what he needed to do in life , is laying in a hospital bed tonight. It would appear he has had a heart attack. He is 82 years old. If your amongst the believers Im asking you tonight to offer up a prayer for his well being. If your not the religious type at least wish him well. His name is Jack Dugan, and he is my Father. Dan
Will do Dan. From the sound of it he has been a wonderful father to you. My dad is 82 and had a pretty tough bout with his colon last year and we almost lost him so I can certainly empathize. Nothing is to tough for God to fix.
Consider it done , My Prayers go out to Him, you and the family. Ive been in your shoes 5 times, I,m sure he will be home soon. { MY FATHER , MY HERO }
Sounds like someone to model one's self too. Hope all turns out well. I bet he's led a grand life full of experience's that need to be passed down through the generations in the family.
I will pray for him, his family and the doctors who care for him that their hands will be steady and minds sharp!
Sorry to hear that Dan. I've been in your position, and will keep your family in my prayers. It's not easy having elderly parents.
Dan, I will be thinking of your dad and you, and I'll be wishing him a speedy recovery. Sounds like he unselfishly raised his son to be a fine man.
My Dad is 85, My Mom is 81. I thank God for keeping them healthy and enabling me to continue to spend time with them. A prayerful request has been given to God for your Dad's recovery so you can continue to spend time with him. Walk with God Dan. Joe
Prayers sent and hopes to you and dad for a speedy recovery ! My dad is 80, he's my "go to" guy...I would be lost without him ! So I KNOW how you feel, be strong and trust in God.
Dan, Your father, you and your family are in our thoughts & prayers as well. Your Dad is lucky to have your support and living in these days has a greater fighting chance for recovery, we are all with you! AL.
The last week has been a little hectic... but its been a good kind of hectic. HES HOME !!!!!! It was determined that he had a small arterial blockage, and that combined with his slow heart rate and BP medicine caused the problem .....he did not have a heart attack. They are now evaluating the test results to see if he needs a pacemaker. The doctors plan on treating the blockage with medication and the blood pressure medicine has, at least for the moment, been discontinued. I would like to thank all of you for your prayers , support, and well wishes. I really believe that God heard the prayers and intervened on my Dads behalf. This is pretty amazing coming from someone who is at his best an armchair religionist. I think this experience may have changed my mind. You guys are the best.:beers2: Growing up I was never really much of a Buick guy. In fact my 3 previous Buick experiences were less than stellar. But after buying my current Buick and getting to know other Buick people thru both the BCA and this web board I cant think of a better place to be right now. All I can say is Thank You! Dan
That's Good news Dan! I have been there and done that. Having a good extended family really helps both personally and spiritually. I have lost both of my parents and it was a really bad time, so I can truly feel for you. Your father, Joe, will be in our prayers and you too for being a son he could be proud of. I know what you mean when you say "ARMCHAIR RELIGIONIST" I was that kinda of person before my accident, I beleived in God but I was not a real "GET UP ON SUNDAY MORNING" and head off to Church kinda of guy. I was given less then a 2% chance of living and I some how I made it...It proved to me that God was not done with me yet. I had People praying for me all over the place. I really beleived that with out their prayers I would not be here today. I now live my life looking for the reason that God kept me alive, I live each day a a gift and I treat people the best that I can. I might never know why or what God's plan is. I am sure that your Dad has more work to do for God, what that is who knows but it could be as simple as listening to someone who thinks that they are at the end of their rope. Your Dad might not even know that they areso depressed but by listening to them he might pass on some words of encouragement, or words of wisdom and make them feel better about their life and that there is more rope to hang on to! Once again I am Happy for You and your Family Best of health to you and Your Family and God Bless, Don
