Hey guys...I am in a bind and am not sure what to do. Am doing a resto on my 67 2dr Skylark ht. Cannot get an outer wheel housing (left rear)...only inner. Has anyone tried using an outer chevelle or goat wheel housing...can it fit with modest modifications?...my other option is to have my body guy make one which he is not too excited about it. Thanks Michel
It's Not Really Turning Out To Be Your Body Guy's Day.we Need Repro Outer Wheelhouses For All Buick A Bodies 65-74
Well yes, I own a Buick! What's wrong with that! Yeah no kidding! The suppliers you talk to do not seem to enthused about making anything for our cars....We need a data base so we could show them potential! I posted my ride before and in it's current state...have a look! But can I substitute outer off of another GM product for a close fit?
I am using a Chevelle Outer house on my 71 Convt, and I may have just mad eit from scratch.... It has taken more mods than just building the darn thing. It can work, but I just ended up cutting the pieces off the Chevelle house and welding them onto the missing parts of my quarters. Not Pretty, but doesn't have to be if its not a concourse resto. -Jon
I will post pics when I get home of mine. I just fabbed the passenger side last night using the outter areas and other pieces of the Chevelle House... Hindsite, I would have just made it from scratch, but they were only like $39 each, so it would have cost me more to return them. Remember it doesn't have to be perfect, or even neat for that matter just structural. The quarter completely covers it and its difficult to see form inside the trunk too. Later, -Jon
Heres the shot at the bottom of the house, it was gone! This part was actually scrapped from the Chevelle house and modified.
It's "not" for sale but I found a Nos rear outer wheelhouse for a 70-72 Station Wagon and it has the exact wheelhouse lip as the GS/Skylark. I just have to graph the upper rear section so it will fit properly. Start searching for one of those...............I know WHERE!!!!! Keep looking I found mine in Florida.Good luck.
Here you go, two NOS outter wheel houses. Its ashame that this guy is cutting the car apart, but he mentions in the ad that the car has two NOS wheel houses on it. Later, -Jon http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...tem=4535714329&category=43986&sspagename=WDVW
Hey guys!!! This guy is working on a 67! With any luck, doing a 67 the Chevelle wheelhouse may be more usable than doing a 70-72, since the 70-72 Buick quarter sticks out so far. 67 Buick/Chevelle MAY be closer...
Thanks for da feedback. Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. Not sure how my bodyshop artist is going to around this one. My quarters are in pretty good condition so there is no way I am going to have him cut them out to get at the tub. He said he would figure a way around it if I could not get out outer to work with. Like one of you guys said it does not need to pretty, just good and solid.
