Well, a couple months ago, I started the task of installing headers on my '66 . I snapped off two bolts on the right side . I soaked them with aerokroil and tried to get them off with vise grips, with no luck. I (today) bought a set of (18) "rounded/rusted bolt/nut extractors from craftsman. I just recently have noticed them being advertised. Unbelievable . They work great for stud or broken bolt removal. I had about a half inch of bolt protruding from the head. works just like a female easyout. tap it on while turning counterclockwise, and it digs in hard, and backed out the bolts! I was working in tight quarters, and could barely get an angle drill in there, let alone drill it straight with a l/h bit. I 'm sorry for the rant, but I was getting ready to pull the head, and given my luck, one thing would lead to another, and I'd have a full rebuild going on, and that is not good for marital relations! I hope everyone has a happy new year. Best regards, Frank :beer

    Those kickass in tight spots....

Kinda off-topic, but did you say you were putting headers on a nailhead? Who sells them , and about how much do they run?
    Thanks

I heard t/a was going to produce them with larger tubes. I bought a set of leftover new 65-66 gs headers (uncoated) from this board. I cleaned them up , and coated them with eastwoods high temp header coating (silver). then a another new set came up that were chrome , so I bought and installed them instead . they have been going on this board for 325-350. So, to make a long story short, I have an extra set. brand new, with collectors, and hardware, and gaskets. If you're interested, I' ll sell them for what I paid. shippings about 35. let me know if your interested. Frank

425 Dual Quad Restoring 65 'Lark - help

    Hi Frank,

I'm new here [in fact my first post!].

I'm building a 425 dual quad to go in a '65 Skylark 2 door post and motor mounts and headers are one of the issues I'll be thinking on when I've got the motor built!! - first things first!

Do you still have those headers?

Did they fit OK - Someone here in the UK put a set of headers on his 401 GS and they dragged on the floor. Mind you his car was kind of low.
    :)

Nick asked if the headers might stick down too low. Here is a pic underneath. The headers come out just about even with pipes. I still have to trim the pipes, and connect them to the headers.

    Frank,

Thanks - I just PM'd you a reply to yor PM.

I ws under my '65 Skylark the other day. My pipes run in the kick up in the frame crossmember. Is this where yours' sit?

The car's much lower than stock - 5 inches frame to floor at the front [measured behind the front wheelarch] and six inches at the rear.

I am worried about scraping them.

    Dammed fine headers!

    best regards
    Nick
