This thread is pretty old, I don't think they had the nailhead class last year. That is kind of crazy about the trannie, what about the 4-speed cars and Dyna-Flows? Kinda Moot point if there is no class though! We need to bring the Nailhead class back! :beer
I guess this thread popped back up because someone responded to the poll, but while it's up here I'd like to say I think a front engine dragster class, nailheads only, would be very cool! __________________ alan The Dinosaur Gang It isn't what happens to you that matters most, but rather what you choose to do about it. Alan funny you should say that, even if you said it a long time ago.... I have not been around due to too many family obligations. I will be out and about with our new Nailhead project this year. I due plan to resurrect the Nailhead class in the near future, so long as there is interest. I will post new info and a poll soon. Glad to be back John
Ted it is good to have the time to be back. I can't wait to go to the track in a few weeks for testing and to get my license. I never figured I would need a comp license to run a Nailhead:eek2: Send me an email and let me know what you've been up to. John
Somewhat related, somewhat not, I think a nailhead race class and a nailhead show class would be great. I'm not sure how the show classes are set up this year but last year I don't think there was a good place to put Riv's or Wildcats. My 65 Riv was in the GS class with seven 68-69 Skylarks. A nailhead GS skylark could opt to be in either the nailhead class or the 69 and older GS class. I don't care about the judging or trophies I just think it would be cool to see all the nailheads lined up together on Friday.
Doug I know the older cars have it rough when having to group up for shows. At one time they had the Wildcat class and a Riv class. We have even been put in the non GS class 1 time:rant: . I think if the count were down if anything combine the Wildcat GS and Riv GS cars and then have a class for all none GS cars pre 70. (69 down)o No: I will be trying to get the Nailhead class back for 09, BUT, I need to have some people willing to show up and race. While I am working on this I will do what I can to take everyones Ideas and get some classes in the show.:TU: In the past I have even put up my own money to make the Nailhead class pay as much as Super16 and with less cars in the class. Still not many cars show up to race in the Classo No: .. So I will try again and maybe double the money:Brow: Look for the new post in the next week or so. John
John, sounds cool. Thanks for putting forth the effort. With the attendance of Naiheads so low I personally wouldn't care if a show class was open to GS and non GS Nailhead cars. I think it may be cooler to see them all lined up together anyway. Maybe get a couple of the more knowledgable nailhead gurus to judge it. As far as the race goes I think I was the only nailhead racing last year. Unfortunately some poor machine work led to spun rod bearings and I'm real hesitant to risk a numbers matching motor again. I'm hoping to do another 401 or 425 to put in the car just to race and not worry about. I have all the pieces but have too many other projects to finish before I can justify taking apart a car that runs.ou: Maybe next year I can commit.
Doug will you be going this year? If so look for us.. We will be easy to see or should I say HEAR:eek2: . If all goes well we will be running 40% Nitro in the Nailhead front engine dragster... Let me know
I'll be there with a maroon 65 Riv GS. I'm very much looking forward to seeing (hearing) what ya brung. Have a safe trip!
