I found an other Centurion owner in France. Owner has it for 10 years. He asked if I could find for him both stainless steel mouldings on top of doors (between door and window) and also the mouldings on the rear fenders around the rear wheels. Any body can direct me (him) to the right place ? This car was bought new in France, allthough the speedo is in MPH. This explains why headlights are yellow, since that was mandatory in France until the early 90's. I guess this wasa tinner spread on the lenses.
if your car has the moulding that his car is missing, can you post a pic of the moulding on your car? thanks
my master parts catalog only goes to 75(so some things like we are discussing may pertain to 76 models also), but it looks like all 71-75 2 dr lesabres, centurions use the same door upper reveal moulding and all 2 or 4 dr 71-75 lesabre/centurions except wagons use the same rear wheel well moulding. i think i have the door upper mouldings ...and maybe the rear wheel well ones too. ..lemme dig around tomorrow and see. but i dont know how to ship overseas uzzled:
Some cars had the small upper door mouldings with a very thin chrome strip while others used larger mouldings. From the pictures, Jean-Luc's car seems to have the larger ones (they were probably standard on the Centurion). Here is a picture of my 74 LeSabre with the small mouldings. Mine is a base coupe model but I have seen LeSabre Luxus/Custom Convertibles with the same mouldings.
that must be a luxus thing for the 74 models .... all i have ever had were luxus lesabres for my 74s ... customs for the 75 and 76s .... all had the big stainless. the 74 electra limited 4 dr i bought sunday has the big stuff too. (AND ACRS!!)
Yuk, Do you have pictures of your Electra? I'd really like to see the 1974 documentation, stickers and the other things related to ACRS. The LeSabre Convertibles I have seen without the large mouldings were a 74 and a 75. Look at this link for a 75 convertible with the small mouldings http://www.buicks.net/show_and_shine/Norton/ Another one:http://www.classiccar.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1234
i will try again tomorrow to see if i have those mouldings. stuff came up today. here is my electra. im gonna try to de-acrs the car and sell all of the acrs as a whole unit. sold one about 7 years ago to a guy in AZ and got about 900 bux out of it. it was perfect and from a blue 74 electra. this one has a couple screw holes where some one mounted a horn button to the dash..
i have the acrs suppliment that came with the car. in a few days i will be getting the 1974 acrs shop manual that was used in the dealership. from ebay. i figure if i have alot of the paperwork that supports the option it will make selling it a little easier. one thing i like about this set-up is that the steering column is wired for cornering lights. the last one i sold was not a cornering light car. i have heard that only 1326 buicks got acrs in 74 but i dont know how true it is ...also that it was not available on convertibles. i thought it was kinda strange that this brown electra has acrs and not shoulder belts. uzzled:
Why do you want to remove the ACRS from the car? Shoulder belts were standard in the 1974 closed models but they were not available on the cars with ACRS. Would you consider selling it? Maybe I could drive with my LeSabre, leave it to you and buy this one instead!
i dont like the acrs steering wheel ... i like the cheapo 2 spoker.... the acrs lower dash is "energy absorbing" plastic. i like the regular lesabre/electra lower dash. i dont understand your statement after your seatbelt statement uzzled: can you clarify?
Jean-Luc, Is this by any chance a green 71, with 30 (Nmes) plates? I saw that car the other week at the big meeting in Zuchwil, Switzerland.
I mean, If you want a car without ACRS, I could drive to rural MO, give you my LeSabre and buy your Electra! It's got the metal lower dash that you like and I have a two spoke steering wheel somewhere if you don't like the rallye steering that's in it.
Erik it is a white one with plates 44 (Nantes, above Bordeaux). See the pics I posted at the tot of this topic. The one with plate 30 (Nimes) should be that one: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/trombinoscar/buick/bk7103.html Glad it still exists as I am looking for it for a while.
Here's a picture of a 74 LeSabre Luxus 455 convertible with the small mouldings. This one has the wide rocker moulding so they are separate options. Here's a link to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6138&item=4549352494&rd=1
i have the door mouldings and the rear wheel-well mouldings . they are driver quality. no dings, just the usual fine scratches. might polish out. the rear mouldings have some road tar spattered on them and will need a good deisel saoking. i dont have the clips for the door mouldings or the screws for the rear mouldings. if you want them , we need some price suggestions from the "peanut gallery" and i will need advice on packing them up for overseas shipping. i will have time to shoot some pictures saturday and will get them posted.
Hi, Yuk, thanks for all these efforts. Once ou are ready, let me know by PM. I'll have to go back to the buyer, but I anticipate he will be more than happy.
