Hello everyone, I'm new to the board I'm looking to buy a 1971 Buick Skylark....one that I can restore!! I've seen quite a few people selling them but most are selling them already restored, and quite honestly, I dont have the kinda money they want, lol. If ANYONE knows where I can get one, please let me know. I prefer a hardtop, not a convertible. Thanks again guys!! G. Sweeney
Welcome to V8Buick! More often than not, you will spend a lot more $$ on a Buick resto project, than you will spend for a finished car. Of course that will depend on just how much of a "project" you want to get into. My 68 had a resto done in the mid 90's, and I bought it 3 years ago for less than 1/2 of what that owner later told me he personally put into it. It needed body work, paint, full interior, and motor/tranny rebuilds. Buy a project car in as good condition as you possibly can, unless time/money/effort are not a big factor.
Thanks for the replies guys David... I know I'll wind up spending more restoring it myself....but my grandfather had a 71 skylark that he drove me around in as a kid....he's gone now and his car was eventually junked somewhere. The cra was very sentimental to me, so rebuilding it myself is kinda what i wanna do, like an "in memorium", u know? Chris.. I'd love to start out with something like you have for sale. I'm very low on $$ right now tho...I saw u knocked it down to $1500. I would be interested, but getting it to Philadelphia would cost me even more If you'd be willing to work with me, I'd love to talk Thanks again!!! G. Sweeney
