That's the problem with having 2 threads going at the same time dealing with the same subject.

Whoa big fella. :error: I have one thread regarding the distributor part # and one thread regarding my timing/starting issue. Two separate issues, two separate threads.

David PM'd me and asked me to add the date code...

    That's all.

I do appreciate your help, experience and wealth of knowledge! :TU:

I'm not getting excited:laugh: I just saw the production date code in the other thread, and I had no way of knowing you were posting it again for David. I don't think the production date will help anyway. We need a listing of all the distributors available that year and their specs. Not sure where you will find that, hence my prior suggestion to figure out the specs with a timing light. That is what you were asking to begin with, right:TU:

When I checked the number to the manual and it was off I went into panic mode, what the heck is in there and where did it come from!!

Based on Davids comments it is a 71 era unit, we just don't know the mechanicals. As the car sits drained of AF having hoses and fluid replaced and me traveling in the AM a few things won't be answered for a few days.

    Hobbies! :Dou:

No need to Panic:laugh: Most of the 350 distributors from 71-72 had very favorable specifications from a performance stand point. There is a good chance that this one is similar. Just figure it out with a timing light when you get up and running, and we will go from there.:TU:

I realize (for once) this is an old thread, but I was looking at distributors as I have a bunch I'm going to list for sale and found something interesting: My '71 GS came to me with what I suspect to be the orig. distributor. It matches the OP's part # and the date codes are very close (mine is 1L10). I believe all "B Body" cars with 350's came standard with a 4BBL and that the the factory probably ran out of 1112080's and being that it was the end of the model year, just substituted the other available 4BBL distrulibutor.

Anyone else have a late (April/May/June) build '71 GS or Skylark w/4BBL with an apparent original/date code correct 1112066 instead of the correct 1112080?

Jeff, is your car a GS or Skylark w/4BBL or a Skylark w/2BBL?

Looks like he sold the GS in his signature

I didn't see that (signatures don't show up on the mobile version), just saw in his profile that he's been on here recently. That answers my question on the 4BBL part. Maybe he remembers the build date of the car or still has a pic of the trim tag. Thx!
