Ok, test fitting of aft interior panels complete. So far so good, nothing major other than the ugly parts that need recovering. I have three questions though for you ragtop guys, can you please go take a look at your machine and let me know if this is normal??? I am trying to find out as much info as I can and will share with all once done.

Please ignore color of panels, test fitting is best done before final covering takes place.

Ok, number 1: The slotted rail that bolts to the rear seat support is offset to the LH side. This is the factory location, I checked the old pics and original screwholes are still there. Due to the assembly of the rear seat support, if this piece is perfectly centered, the LH side end is in a spot where you can't put a screw, so it would be unsupported there(bad). Are your cars the same??

Number 2: The flat panels mounted inside the piston panels slope down and out. I am assuming this is normal as they pretty much only fit one way, all the other parts fit beautifully. Is this to drain water or something..or is my car an oddball??? Are yours level???

    Picture attached....

    #3 will be up shortly...

    Thanks
    Tim

and #3: We had the seat hooks off to replace some sheetmetal. I took very accurate measurements of where the hooks mounted but the shop lost my originals and I am not sure if the replacement ones (currently screwed into place) are in exactly the correct position. Also, my mistake in this was that one of the reference edges I used was repalced, so I lost that measurement as well.

The seat sits level and "looks" right, but I have nothing to compare it to.

Does the seat appear to about the right height above the boot mounting rail bolted to the seat support?? the cetner is the best, the corners kind of lift up as the cover is coming off the seat. Or put anther way, how far above that rail is your seat located??

i know I probably sound like a moron asking these questions, but please remember when I bought this car, IT HAD NO INTERIOR so i had to scrounge and fit all the parts...and i never saw it together to get a feel for things like seat placement, etc.

Looking for as much input as possible. Thanks a lot!!

If it will help, I'll measure if the boot rail is centered tonight and also the height of the seat ABOVE the boot rail.....Mine's of course a '69 but I think all 68-72 verts are the same.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

I have several A-body converts and can check seat position and height.
Let me know if you get the info, otherwise I can get that to you on Friday.

Thanks guys, I do appreciate it.....sometimes it feels like I am in a tetris game but putting this car together instead of lining up falling blocks....doing my best to keep it as nice as possible...

    Thanks

the boot track has the base of its bead holder just at the top of the rear seat back plate.

The boot track indeed is not centered on mine

Hi Alan, thank you for the pics! I have talked to several people now, not one rail is centered. Interesting, isn't it?? Must be due to the contruction of the seat support which would leave that very LH side screw no place ot go if it was centered. They seem to vary a fair bit, I did move mine over as far as possible, but its still a couple inches out.

Thanks again. One day I'm going to fly down to a shwo and buy everyone a beer who has helped on this project. THAT will be expensive!!!
