My 464 has TA stg 2 street eliminator heads on it, and the 2 1/8" primary headers. I have not been able to get a dipstick or a dipstick tube to properly fit. The earler style dipstick without the tube will not fit into my motor. I was able to get the dipstick tube from another 455 I had laying around to fit, with some very slight massaging from a tubing bender. I only had to bend the tube a few degrees, but now the dipstick cannot be inserted into the tube, it gets hung up going through the new bend! :blast: Right now, when I want to check the oil, I need to pull the dipstick tube out (I keep it plugged), insert the dipstick (I have it marked how far to insert it) then replace the dipstick tube. This is a royal pain, as the dipstick tube is a tight fit and quite difficult to replace in anything but the best lighting conditions. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do with this? Thanks!
Maybe you should try a repro tub & stick o No: :Brow: I think they are $50 or so, a costly chance if it doesn't work either. Someone here must have a better solution.
Scott, there will be a dipstick tube assy out very soon for the stg-2 headed cars. I believe less than a month away. I have a stg-3 head motor on the dynop right now with the factory dipstick tube assy in it, needed just slight bend to make it fit. Jim Burek
Replacement speedometer cable works as a flexable stick. Take the cable and cut to length then weld to original dipstick handle and mark accordingly. Cable dipsticks are common on many new cars now.
