Not trying to highjack the post but has anyone put the fuel and or brake lines on a Skylark with the body on the frame? I have one I would like to do at least the brake lines and maybe the two fuel lines. Thanks Bill.

    Bill,

With the body on, I think the best you can do is the main brake line and maybe the front halves of the fuel lines.

I agree with Jason. I tried it years ago and it was hours of misery and failed in the long run. You cannot get the clips or run the lines over the rear spring top. what frustration it was. Front sections are possible. Wonder why the reproduction fuel lines do not come with the black fabris on them where they go through the front frame? I bought the fabric but it will not fit over the tube end bead. I am going to ask one of the tubing companies to put it on for me. I think this stuff keeps the lines from rattling in the frame.

    Dave,

I bought my lines from Fine lines and they have the fiber cover installed on the front halves. I'll get you a picture.

Jason, thanks that is good news. Looks like I should order from them. Are you going to paint your front body mounts purple or violet? That is correct for a GS. Also can't tell from picture but looks like you have one mount on there. Buick used two on each side in front you probably know. Makes for a better ride.

I bought my fuel and brake SS lines from Right Stuff! They had the fabric on both the fuel line that go thru the front frame section like the originals.

    Dave,

I was going to paint them. Where can I get some decent paint that is correct?

Jason, I found some krylon outdoor paint. Color was called grape. Looked close to what the original violet may have been comapiring to my very faded originals however. This paint was nice as it went on fairly dry and did not get real sticky on the rubber like some paints do. Dried pretty fast. I can get paint info from can later.

Sounds good. Don't I need to paint a couple yellow also? Another thing, do you paint the whole thing or just mist it?

All of the smaller cushions were yellow. My orignal cushions had a lot of yellow paint on them. Duane said he thought they cushions may have benn dipped in yellow paint. I just sprayed mine heavy even on the metal washer that may rust quick. I would try and find a bright yellow Krylon as it seams to dry faster. The front purple jobs had less paint on them. They may have been sprayed or maybe just hand painted. Maybe you may want to wait a couple of days on the purple ones as I hae get my hands on some more originals soon so I can check them better. The Grape paint is called Krylon outdoor spaces. It is a satin so it is not too glossy.

I have some time so I'll wait and see what you find out. I just thought I remember seeing some that had what looked like a quick brush on that showed the brush lines and the black underneath.

Jason, you could be right. My fronts were tough to tell if they were sprayed with runs or if they were brush marks.
