Good friend and neighbor of mine just bid and won an ebay auction for a car located in California. Need specific recommendations on car transport companies both good and bad. Car will need to be shipped from CA to GA. I know many of you have had experience here and hopefully can share with me to pass along to him. Thanks! :)

www.dasautoshippers.com is the official transport company of eBay.

Iused them with my Centurion, and the only problem I had with them was a delay from TX to MO. It was a problem of getting a trailer long enough to fit my car into it. I shipped in an enclosed trailer.

Look here for some more companies:

DAS was middle of the road as far a prices went. I priced about 30 companies.

I just had my car shipped from Ark to WV with D.A.S. car was late getting here, they said I would get it on 12/2/03 it came 12/7/03 but other than that everything went fine, with insurance it cost 560.00, my painter bought a Pontiac from San Fran, same shippers to WV and if I remember right it was like 1,100.00 to our shops door and everything went good with it also, I like their tracking system they have, you can watch your car come to ya!

D.A.S. bad luck for my buyer

i sold an antique car on ebay a couple years ago and it didnt go well for my buyer. he picked D.A.S. to ship it from MD. to CA. and they must have lowered the upper deck onto the car because it arrived with a bent roof. they told him he didnt buy the right insurance, and they offered him $200.00 to fix it. i have read on ebay motors forums of at least one other case where they did the same thing. i hear intercity is very professional. interstate shipping is always a toss of the dice, just a matter of luck like so many things in life. good luck.

    UNITED Van Lines

I drove for united Van lines back in the 80's .....

I hauled a lot of cars including my first place 55 chevy :Brow: all over the country .

Give your local agent a call ..... Worth a call and you will get a decent delivery date .

I would think a lot of drivers will be begging to head east to get home for Christmas !

Been there , done that ................ :bglasses: :TU:

Try Passport Transport . They used enclosed trailers, have been around for decades, give on-line quotes, and have a stellar reputation. A collector friend of mine in Mich. uses them and raves about how reliable and courteous they are.
I think they might be a tad more expensive than average, but they're worth it if you really value your car....
