Hello everyone. I'm Mike and I'm new here. I have the '71 Electra you see in my avatar. I'm looking to put a set of poverty caps or "dog dish" hub caps on it with a set of BFG Radial T/A's for a different look.

I just can't seem to find any pics of them on a full size Buick on the net. I just want to see what they'd look like on my Electra before I bid on a set from Ebay.

I'm also going to paint the stock steelies Sandalwood like the rest of the car.

    Any help is appreciated.

Are you looking for a very clean set of full-size poverty caps? I purchased a set a while back and they are darn near perfect shape.

I am thinking of going a different direction with wheels on my ride so I may want to sell these. Although I probably wont ever find such a clean set again.

    Dan,

If you could send me a pic and a price in a message, I will let you know. I still haven't bid on any yet. I'm kind of after a certian style.......but I'm open to any factory caps. I like the COPO aka "cheap-ass" look

I still would like to see them on a full size Buick first; weather it be an Electra, LeSabre, or a Centurion.......just so I can get an idea before I commit.

I've seen poverty caps on impala's and other full sized era cars and they good if that helps.

Here are some Buick poverty caps I had on my '73 Electra for about an hour. I didn't care for them. Just a note, these are from a 60's Buick MUCH cheaper. (I paid $20 for the set and they were nice!)

That is so weird. That is the exact style I am considering bidding on!! To me, I'd rather do a set of full size road wheels but these are a cheaper soloution (and I like them just about as much).

I hear you on the cost factor. I'd say to save your money for now, save up for the Buick road wheels. I love the way they look on the fullsize Buicks.

Same caps on my old '69.

I believe that these caps are from the late '70's or maybe '80's,they are aluminum construction.I liked the look but I liked the full covers better.

^^^ I'm sold. The only difference is I'll be using trim rings too. I might paint the rims to match the car as well :Do No:

    Dan,

They are a little different than the ones I desire, but PM me a price and I'll let you know.

It's not a Buick, but just to give you an impression: I've had this hubcap/tire setup for a while on my New Yorker. Imho dog dishes look good when the the rims are kind of "deep dish". I run 8" wheels on the Chrysler, meanwhile I simply removed the caps & rings and put whitewalls on for a more oldschool look.

I'm not sure if I'd like this style on an Electra, I'd probably stick with the original caps and whitewalls. But it's nothing you couldn't change back quickly, so try it out.

That's the look I'm after. Dog dishes, trim rings, and raised whites :TU:

Something different for a full size.

I've seen some larger pics of your Electra now, very nice car except those wire wheel covers... I can imagine know why you want something different.

I've always liked the idea of dog dish caps on a full size just for a different look.
Maybe even with body colored wheels and trim rings. :TU:

Hate wire wheel covers myself. Hokey spokes I call them.
    Noisy, difficult to clean.

Are there any 8" factory rims that will fit a GS and give "THE LOOK" with the dog dish hubcaps??? :TU:

Well everyone, I finally got them. Really makes for a cool look in my opinion! I like how they look with the black rims, so maybe I won't paint the steelies to match after all.

I'll have to get some better shots tomorrow (when I have more room). I was running out of light and didn't have time to take the best pics.

I think they'll look a lot better with a set of Radial T/A's in the future :TU:

I really like that! With the trim rings. sweet!:TU:
    Very clean, understated.

Your '71 looks like the younger sibling of the '72 I owned.
