Hey guys, so I was trying to power tune my car (71 Riviera) per Larry's instructions and come to find out I had the wrong carb. It was for a 350 not 455. I ended up ordering one from Quadra Jet Power at it will be here on Tuesday 5/21/19. You guys have any pointers or often over looked items that might help the install and tuning go smoothly? I know it will come with an instruction sheet but I know years of experience can help me a lot. Thank you.

Hopefully it's pretty much plug and play. Was it built/jetted for your specific application? Just don't over tighten the carb bolts. Other than that, not sure how much there is to be done. I got mine from Ken at Everyday Performance. Gave him my combo, got it and bolted it on. Never looked back. Came with the idle mixture screws already turned out 2 or 2.5 turns (I double checked). Only thing I have apart from stock is a quarter inch spacer.

Start at 2.5 turns and let the engine warm up. Attach vacuum gauge to the manifold and adjust the mixture screws for max vacuum. Set the idle and you should be good to go.

Thanks. Where's a good spot to get manifold vacuum? Off that TVS, or somewhere on the Carb?

For manifold vacuum I connect to the transmission line on the top rear of the intake.

Usually, the passenger side top outlet is manifold vacuum. It's EASY to tell. If you pull the hose off a manifold vacuum connection with the engine running, it will hiss very loudly. There is usually a vacuum connection at the back center of the carburetor for the climate control vacuum storage container on the firewall. That is manifold vacuum.
