Hello, all! My name is Jake, and I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 1972 Skylark Custom three days ago, and I'm crazy about it. I'm a full-time, self-employed musician, and I've had a passion for classic cars all of my life since my dad always had something great in the garage. Namely, just a few years ago, he had a '71 Skylark convertible that he ended up selling. . . it broke my heart. Needless to say, I'm ecstatic about this purchase, and I can't wait to get working on it to preserve its current condition. I'll thank you all in advance for your advice and technical input! You just can't beat the help you get from other classic car fans. Cheers! -Jake
I get up near Mchenry quite often! Thanks! I'll probably see you at a cruise night this summer, Butchman. And thank you, as well, Bens! Glad to be here.
Welcome. Born at Great Lakes & lived in Lake County all my life until I wised up & left IL in 2006. Kyle
Welcome! I'm looking at the rims on your Skylark and they look like the big car rims but I thought they had a different bolt pattern. Musician you say, now you'll have a write a song about Buicks for us!
Ahem.. mee mee mee mee meeeee.... now to wait for the inspiration to strike. And the rims are wheel covers, which might be why they look different. I'd like to find something that fills the wells a little better, so I imagine I'll be spending some time on here late at night perusing everyone's wheel choices.
Welcome. Crest Hill, IL. here. Check out the Chiwaukee Border Chapter of the BCA. They hold their meetings in the Gurnee area. We will have an all Buick show June 9th at Anthony Buick in Gurnee.
I'll check that out for sure! I live right down in Aurora, not too bad of a cruise up that way at all. Thanks for the recommendations.
Hi Jake, welcome from Chi-Town! Nice car you picked up. You've come to the right place for all your Buick needs. With Spring time just around the corner, there's cruise nights happening every day of the week starting soon. Here's a pretty good site to peruse what's going on in and around northern Illinois..............http://donspeeno.com/ Good luck with your new toy, Nick
