    Stittsville, Hazeldean Cruise Night

    Hi Guys,

The idea of a Buick presence en mass sounds good to me. Just let me know when and where. I know that May 3 is the kickoff for the Hazeldean mall cruise night.

My Buick is not yet running 100%. It is running a little rough and has a slight miss. Not sure if it is because of the Florida gas that was leftover in the tank or if it needs a bit of a tune up. I suspect and hope it is a bit of both. The car was never really driven since August 2003.

Tony came over on Friday and we stood outside, looked at my car, froze our asses off and had a beer. It was nice to chit chat with another Buick fanatic.

By the way, if any of you guys have a spare torque converter/flex plate dust shield for a Turbo 400, I need one. Just let me now how much you want. Tony's sharp eyes spotted the fact that mine was missing.

    Cheers
    Randy

    My fuel pump woes

    Hi Tony,

I got word from my brother at the garage (via Chevy West) that the fuel pump will have to come from the states. The part numbers you gave are good, but there are two different hose configurations that are associated with the part number. On one pump there are 3 fittings that come straight out from the pump while on the other, two fittings are curved and one is staight.

Anyway, I have to check mine tonight to see which configuration I have. Then I can order the pump which will take about 7 days from the U.S.

Oh well, it will give me time for more beer.

    Cheers
    Randy

Randy, you should be fine with the GM #6470098.Delco # is 40664.I have not sold one in a while but if my memory is correct it`s a 2 liner same as yours.I would have to look at my pump again to confirm.Check yours though,it should also be a 2 line.Later,Tony.

Hey Les.The kitchen is coming along o.k,should be done for the most part by Aprils end.At some point during April I am also helping my buddys son do an engine swap so that will take a bit of time.I never get my car out untill mid-late May anyway. If you boys are ready for early May I will get over there regardless if my GS is ready or not.Later,Tony.

    I drove it!

    Hey Tony,

I put 25 miles on the car last night. First time I have driven my own Buick since 1978. Man it felt good. I did not drive it hard, but I wanted to give it a good run to clean it out a bit. Afterall, it has not been driven much since August 2003.

    Cheers

    Hi Tony,

I had the car in a Petro Canada yesterday for a once over. It was given a clean bill of health. My brother and another mechanic looked at the fuel pump and could not find any leaking. Just to be safe they did record all the particulars of the pump should I need one in the future. I have been checking it since last Friday and for some unknown reason the leaking has in fact stopped.

The mechanic told me that the entire underside of the car has all new components (as you kind of suspected) and it runs well. He said the timing and carb are set right and all looks well. They also recommended that I continue to run the smog pump, for no other resaon than it will keep it from siezing up in the future.

It will get an oil change next week. They suggest using synthetic oil. Any thoughts on that?

    Cheers
    Randy

Hey Randy.Well, there was a gas leak going on,if it`s not the pump body it could be the pump to carb line. The hoses off the pump seemed fine, but I only took a quick look at the pump while under the car.Seems odd it would just stop :puzzled: :Do No: I guess you will have to monitor it.
As far as the Air pump,if it was my ride I would remove it,from a performance stand point anyway.Regardless it does seem to be a bit noisy from what I remember hearing.
Your engine seemed to rev a bit slow to me,but I am not sure if it is because you have an air pump on it.As I don`t use an air pump,I am not sure if this is typical on the 455.As far as timing,I am pretty sure you have a bit "warmer" than stock cam.You might have to fine tune things a bit more than stock. If you are into performance you should pick up some more info on this.I am not a synth oil fan..always a big debate about that.Randy,it`s your car,you do what you think is right. If I can help any way just PM me.Later,Tony.
