Hello all, my name is Matt. I have recently become obsessed with bubble top cars but seem to be drawn to the 61 Lesabre or Invicta. I have been searching the web for a deal on a clean Invicta but can't seem to find any so I have switched to looking for a Lesabre. I won't post my questions here, I just wanted to introduce myself first before asking any questions.
Welcome! I won't be your bubble top answer guy (I have a Skylark, like most guys here), but welcome, anyway.
Good to have you aboard. I think that the bubble tops are the most underappreciated cars. Good luck in getting one!
I've always had a thing for the bubble top cars as well! Don't own one, but sure would like to. Welcome and good luck with you search!
Welcome Matt. You're full of questions and a lot of us are full of....................................................................................answers.

One of the bubble tops you posted, from craigslist, is actually the reason I'm here. I wanted to get some opinions on whether or not the one from NY is a good deal or should I hold out for something else? http://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/4882895230.html
364 motor? Isn't 364ci an Olds displacement? Never heard of a 364 Nailhead. This car is beautiful nonetheless. http://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/4882895230.html
I agree the car is beautiful. I wonder though, do you think I can find something in similar shape for cheaper or should I scoop this up?
Welcome aboard Matt, and good luck in search for the perfect bubble! The 61 in NY looks to be an ok deal, as you know it can be real hard to find one of these cars. I looked for quite awhile for mine. A nice custom with air ride, wheels, disc brakes, etc. would probably cost you twice what he is asking. If you want something like that, I could probably be talked out of mine. :>) The interior will be expensive to fix back to original, you will have to see if SMS in OR even has that color/pattern in stock. If not, you will probably have to redo in something similar but not original, as no one else would have the original fabric. It looks like a car that was for sale a couple of years ago in IL, but I am not sure if it is the same. If you are in contact with the owner, see if you can find out about its history. The one in IL was a 1 owner car, that had some rust, but was otherwise pretty nice. If it is the same car, you would want to make sure the rust was repaired correctly. The owner of this car is a 61 expert and a good guy, who is occasionally on this board as well, although it appears he hasn't logged in in several years. http://www.v8buick.com/member.php?13513-Mr-61-Buick
Your car is exactly what I'm looking for. I don't really care about it being original I just want it to be clean and really not have to do anything to it aside from air ride, wheels and disk brakes. Maybe a motor and transmission swap at a later date. I have spoken to the owner, through email, and he says the rust was repaired but says there is still some above the wheel wells inside the trunk. I would only be able to use the car about 6 months out of the year, because I live in Maine. Any bubble top would do but I really like the Lesabre and Invicta. They also seem to be cheaper than the impalas. So can you tell me what you put on yours for suspension parts? I've been trying to figure out is the stuff sold for the same year impalas will work.
Did you find out if the car is from IL? 6 months a year is pretty good. I live in WA, so we typically have from mid May to mid October, with rain every other weekend during that time, lol! Mine was done by Boris at Street Machinery in OH, a nationally known builder of low riders. He put on the air ride and corvette disc brakes, and billet wheels. http://www.streetmachinery.com/ He can tell you (and sell to you) exactly what parts to use, he sells a lot on ebay as way2lo2 http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=way2lo2&ftab=AllFeedback And yes, the Buick's are definitely less expensive (but better built) than the Chevy's!!!
Of course there is this one for sale too (for a very long time). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buick-LeSab...8be2c4043&item=381147693123&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
That is the car that got me started on this search. Just a little to rich for my wallet and it would still need to be bagged. Thanks for all the info and answering my questions. If you were to sell yours, how much would you want?
